    Abstract

    Chip-scale atomic clocks based on coherent population trapping (CPT) face challenges due to miniaturized gas cells, which reduces the CPT resonance signal and the absorption signals of alkali atoms. To overcome this, we propose a method that simultaneously stabilizes the laser wavelength and microwave modulation frequency without relying on absorption line detection. Our approach enables stabilization at the point where the amplitude of the CPT resonance signal is maximized, making it suitable for compact atomic clocks. The system uses three lock-in amplifiers: one is used to stabilize the RF modulation frequency, and the other two are used for detecting the amplitude of the CPT resonance and stabilizing the laser wavelength. The Allan deviation measurements demonstrate a 1.4-fold improvement in short-term stability compared to conventional methods, suggesting that the proposed technique is a promising solution for enhancing the performance of small gas-cell atomic clocks.

    In this study, we controlled tilted angle or AlN c-axis in the aim of high performance AlN-based energy harvester (VEHs). Tilt-angle of the c-axis of the AlN thin films was adjusted by changing growth temperature from 420℃ to 650℃. The results were confirm by X-ray diffractromety equipped with two dimensional detector (2D-XRD). At 420℃ the c-axis tilted 22°, which is the largest tilt angle reported for the AlN films grown by incident angle deposition. In addition, by changing growth temperature, we succeeded in preparing c-axis tilted AlN films with different tilt angle. Scanning electron spectroscopy (SEM) revealed that the c-axis tilted films have tilted columnar structures which prevents cracks and pinholes going straight through the films. This feature may help avoiding electrical short between electrodes fabricated on top and bottom of the AlN films in VEHs.

    We report (Mg,Zr)AlN-based micro-energy harvester. Doping Mg and Zr into AlN crystal, (Mg,Zr)AlN shows high piezoelectric coefficient, leading to high power figure of merit (FOM = e_<31>^2/(ε_0ε)). The 13 at.%-(Mg,Zr)AlN had the experimental FOM of up to 16.7 GPa. The micromachining harvester provided the high normalized power density of 3.72 mW.g^<-2>.cm^<-3>. This achievement was 1.5-fold increase compared to state of the art.

    A lead-free piezoelectric AlN based bent cantilever was fabricated with a heavy proof mass at free end to convert ambient vibration energy to electric energy. High fracture toughness stainless steel substrate was employed to enhance output power and reduce resonate frequency of vibration energy harvester. This device was comprised of stainless steel film as a bottom electrode, Al thin film as a top electrode and c-axis oriented AlN film as functional layer in the middle. Furthermore, the devices were utilized to scavenge both vertical direction and longitudinal direction vibration of cantilever surface. And it presents the high output power of 28.11 μW for vertically induced vibration and 51.73 μW for longitudinally induced vibration when vibration acceleration was 1.0 g.

    次世代大容量通信の進展を勘案し,世界に先駆けて3.5GHz帯デュープレクサの開発に成功した.試作されたデュープレクサはAlN圧電薄膜共振子にて構成され,比帯域6%以上の超広帯域受信フィルタを備える.試作されたデュープレクサは,送信帯域3.4〜3.52GHz,受信帯域3.56〜3.8GHzにて,挿入損2.2dB/3.4dB,送受信間のアイソレーション45dB/42dBの特性を示した.

    This paper describes a proposal of Air-Gap type FBAR with simple structure and its performance up to X-band frequency. We simulated air-gap shape depending on film stress by utilizing finite element method (FEM). It was confirmed that Air-Gap type FBAR has the same performance as conventional hole type FBAR and is applicable up to 9 GHz range.

    This paper summarizes the recent activities in our project to develop the micromachined gas turbine generators for portable power sources. Parallel studies on 3- and 2.5-dimensional engines are underway. The 3-dimensional engine pursues the possibly highest performance by employing the aerodynamically, thermally and mechanically optimum structures to realize self-operation. We first make a 3-dimensional micro-turbo charger operating at room temperature to demonstrate the feasibility of required adiabatic compressor efficiency and rotational speed without the influence of heat flow. THe 3-dimensional engine, however, needs the one-by-one manufacturing and assembly of each component with high accuracy, which are not adaptable to future mass-production. Contrarily, the 2.5-dimensional engine is the most disirable goal for future mass-production using semiconductor micromachining, however, it holds many highlychallenging hurdles. Our trials on the 2.5-dimensional engine include study on silicon micro-air turbines, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation, ceramic micromachining and study on micro-combustors.

    In this paper, studies on silicon carbide (SiC) micromachining and micromachined gas turbines are described : (1) SiC micro-reaction-sintering combined with silicon lost mold method has been developed, and SiC micro-rotors of 5 and 10 mm in diameter were fabricated. (2) Deep reactive ion etching (deep-RIE) of sintered SiC is being studied. To date, the etching depth of over 100 μm was achieved at the speed of 0.48 μ/min. using an inductively coupled plasma RIE system with SF_6 gas. (3) Silicon micro-air turbines for rotating an integrated grid polarizer have been fabricated, and the rotational speed of about 10000 rpm was achieved. (4) A computer fluid dynamics (CFD) program is under development for numerical fluid analysis inside micro-gas turbines. The airflow inside the abovementioned micro-air turbine was 2-dimensionally calculated.
