“FaLAS (Fieldwork and Learning Assistance System)” is a system designed for disaster prevention fieldwork in primary and secondary education that supports students' information collection. It integrates functions such as recording, viewing, sharing, monitoring, and account managing, and is comprised of an Android app and a server. When evaluated in a high school, both students and teachers praised its functionalities, particularly the ability to record photos and categorize them from the perspective of disaster prevention. The system effectively facilitated the collection, sharing, and viewing of information during fieldwork, with teachers valuing the support in understanding students' conditions. However, the method of text input for information was identified as an area needing improvement.

In this study, we aim to enable learners to act based on their own judgment during disasters by practicing evacuation drills. We developed a system called "ES3" that supports learning to make good judgments. This system presents a virtual situation based on the evacuation drill scenarios and urges learners to make judgments and take action. As a result of practicing disaster-prevention drills using the system in a high school, it was confirmed that learners judged the situations by themselves. From the results of the subjective survey, changes were noticed in the ability of learners to make consciousness judgments and recognize dangerous outdoor places and places that could be evacuated, all of which were achieved through the drills. The results of this study reveal that learners have become interested in disasters and have developed an awareness of the need to act proactively as a result of the judgment drills.

This study aims to gather insights into the design and implementation of a Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) Program for graduate students at science and engineering universities. A survey was conducted on faculty and staff at 20 national and private universities in Japan about the scope of participants, formats of implementation, contents of the program, and evaluation methods of the PFF program. The results revealed that at major national universities, PFF programs are offered as standard graduate education (official) courses and implemented throughout campuses together with university teaching assistant training. The structure of the PFF program focuses on content related to course design, which is essential for teaching practices. Based on the results, the study discusses the selection of program contents and conduct of teaching practicum for highly skilled teaching assistants who are capable of partially handling introductory science courses within the framework of PFF training. The study also identified challenges involved in the continuous operation of PFF programs. In particular, the program needs to raise awareness in universities, secure a steady number of participants, and ensure the availability of staff to administer the PFF.

The concept “guidance for living” is used in schools in Japan to direct students to make moral and ethical decisions and promote prosocial behavior. However, attempts to provide this guidance places a heavy burden on teachers, who may find it difficult to observe and guide all students adequately. To ease this burden, the student health observations and student diaries maintained by many Japanese schools could be digitized. Therefore, we developed and tested an EHealth observation system for three months in a Japanese elementary school. We found the system quickly and easily gathered and shared information on students' psychological and physical health with teachers, allowing them to use this information to provide living guidance.

In this research, we developed a disaster experience learning system, "MOSHIMO" that learns the behavior at the time of disaster using an immersive Head-Mounted Display (HMD). By using a type of HMD that covers the field of vision, a highly immersive image presentation was realized, and at the same time, a gaming foot controller was combined to improve the operational feeling and ensure the safety of learners. In order to learn using this system, we have developed learning content using a game engine. Assuming a situation where an earthquake directly below the Tokyo metropolitan area (equivalent to seismic intensity VII) occurred in Tokyo with many buildings, a scenario was defined that defines secondary disasters that occur over time after the disaster. By using the game engine, we were able to reflect user behavior in real-time.

In this research, we have discussed two learning support systems for the disaster learning because we consider that combining the basic knowledge learning and the experience learning is an effective way.
At first, we developed a mobile learning support system called "FaLAS" for creating a disaster prevention map. Learners can carry this system that would record every environment they observe. We conducted a classroom exercise at a high school using the system. The results showed that students' awareness was increased in the self-efficacy and their ability to judge safety and risk. Secondly, we developed a system called "ES3" that presents a virtual situation based on the evacuation drill scenarios. As a result of practicing disaster-prevention drills using the system in a high school, it was confirmed that learners judged the situations by themselves. From the results of questionnaires, changes were noticed in the voluntarily judgments regarding dangerous outdoor places and so on.

Japan’s new Course of Study, the government guideline for teaching, requires elementary and junior high school students to acquire the abilities of "acquisition" and "utilization" in limited curriculum. We referred flipped classroom in higher education and designed a learning environment that closely connects learning at home and school. Therefore, we did the educational practice on 103 arithmetic lessons and analyzed them. As a result, we confirmed supports in questionnaires of children and parents, the test scores of each unit, and scores on the academic achievement test. Moreover, we found a correlation between the number of preparations and the average understanding-oriented scores in the learning scales.
