  • Listening drone helps find victims needing rescue in disasters

    As part of the ImPACT Tough Robotics Challenge Program, an initiative of the Cabinet Office of Japan, a Japanese research group has developed the first system worldwide that is able to detect acoustic signals such as voices from victims needing rescue, even when they are difficult to find or are in places cameras cannot be used. This system was developed using three technological elements: a microphone array technology for the robot ears, an interface for visualization of invisible sounds, and a microphone array that is easily connected to a drone, even in rainy weather.

    環境理解は,システムやロボットがその周囲の環境を把握する技術を構築する研究分野であり、自動運転や災害救助ロボットなど様々な目的に利用可能である.本研究では,その第一歩として,音響信号を用い,かつ人間に不快感を与えない形でアクティブに距離計測を行う手法を検討する.分解能が不十分,狭帯域信号に対するノイズ耐性が低いといった音響信号を用いた既存の距離計測手法の問題に対して,本稿ではこの問題を解決するために周波数ごとに重みと尤度を自動的に設定する手法を提案する.実収録データを用いた距離計測実験を行った結果,雑音に対する頑健性,および距離計測の精度について,最も雑音に頑健な手法であるCSP法と比較して,提案法が有効であることを示すことができた.

    本稿ではLSTM(Long Short-Term Memory)を用いた音楽音響信号の修復法を提案し,実際の欠損に対しての修復性能の評価を行う.実際にLSTMを適用した場合,情報が比較的スパースである高域の学習が十分でなくなり,修復性能が劣化してしまう.この問題に対し,我々は,入力信号に対して高域を強調するような周波数フィルタを用いて,その解決を試みた.また,この手法の拡張として,時間方向のみではなく,周波数方向の系列情報も考慮することが可能な QLSTM(Quad-directional LSTM)を用いることを提案した.これらの手法を実際の欠損に対して適用し,評価を行った結果,提案手法は通常のLSTMと比較して,より詳細な修復が可能であるということを確認した.

    本稿では、深層学習の一手法であるLSTM を用いた音楽音響信号修復について報告する.一般に,深層学習では性能の高いモデルを学習するために大量のデータが必要である.実際に音楽音響信号修復に深層学習を用いると,学習データが少ない場合,情報が比較的スパースである高域の修復性能が劣化するという問題が発生する.この問題を解決するため,学習時に,入力信号に対して,周波数フィルタを用いることにより,周波数方向に重みをかけることを提案する.予備検討の結果,少量の学習データであっても提案法が有効であることを確認した.

    <p>Sound source localization using a microphone array embedded on an unmanned aerial vehicle has been studied to detect and localize people who need help in a disaster-stricken area. Because such sound source localization should work in outdoor environments, the design of the microphone array is crucial. We thus developed two types of microphone array; 16ch two-storied hexagonal and 12ch spherical microphone arrays. These two microphone arrays were evaluated via numerical simulation with discussions on the appropriate design of microphone arrays.</p>

    Acoustic sensing has a potential that is able to obtain various information such as location, shape, ma-terial and movement of surrounding objects, so the precision measurement methods is required. We try to measure heart beat of human in the upright position. However, an error, which causes by MTI filter and phase tracking, increases relatively as human surface movement becomes smaller. In this report, we evaluate the measurement accu-racy theoretically when movement is detected using MTI filter and phase tracking. Furthermore, we propose error correction. Experimental results showed that measurement accuracy can be improved by using proposed method

    To realize non-contact sensing of clothed person's breathing and heart rate using airborne ultrasound, we estimated the sound attenuation characteristics of clothes and tried to detect displacement of a object with small movement behind cloths. We measured sound amplitude through a sail cloth as a function of distance and obtained transmission attenuation by comparing sound amplitude without cloths. Then, we observed the small movement of objects behind cloths using airborne ultrasound. M-sequence signal which is used to improve SN ratio and phase information of reflected signal enable to observe the target movement. Moreover we found that MTI filter is effective to observe phase change clearly. These results provide the basic data for detecting submillimeter movement on the human body surface under cloths.

    In "drone audition," which aims at acoustic monitoring from the sky by drones, dealing with ego-noise caused by rotors and airflow is much more important than in robot hearing. In this research, the performance of acoustic processing was improved by selecting frequency bands according to noise characteristics; silent propellers designed based on bio-norms and fluid dynamics were found to be not only quieter but also effective in reducing specific frequency bands of ego-noise; the acoustic characteristics was exploited to improve sound source location; a high-precision 3D position-and-pose estimation methods with a single GNSS antenna robust against the instability of drones was developed for constructing 3D point clouds; drive-and-glide flight navigation for a kiteplane was proposed; a method to design a cognitive drone hearing system based on the perceptual behavior cycle was proposed. These wide-spectrum outcomes have established the system of drone audition.
