    Abstract

    We discuss the modelling of traffic count data that show the variation of traffic volume within a day. For the modelling, we apply mixtures of Kato–Jones distributions in which each component is unimodal and affords a wide range of skewness and kurtosis. We consider two methods for parameter estimation, namely, a modified method of moments and the maximum-likelihood method. These methods were seen to be useful for fitting the proposed mixtures to our data. As a result, the variation in traffic volume was classified into the morning and evening traffic whose distributions have different shapes, particularly different degrees of skewness and kurtosis.

    In this paper, Horizontal Elevator, HE, is proposed as a transportation system for autonomous vehicles which satisfies the following two conditions: passengers do not need to reserve in advance to utilize it and vehicles operate only on a designated network. HE has a single vehicle moving on a line represented as a one-dimensional network. An optimization problem is defined to obtain an operation plan for the HE. Selective Collective (SC), one of the heuristics for the elevator operation problems, is applied for solving the problem. Simulation experiments of the HE under some conditions were conducted and followings were revealed. First, SC is found as a good solution method regarding calculation speed, optimality and ease for passengers to understand how to utilize HEs. Second, HEs are expected to be applied to the network with multiple lines where passengers can transfer mutually.

    Typically, the parameters of land use models are stepwisely estimated and calibrated because of some practical difficulties, e.g., satisfying sign conditions. However, this estimation method lacks the reliability from the theoretical viewpoint as the parameters that should be estimated simultaneously are separately estimated one by one. This study is the first attempt to mitigate this problem. We aim to introduce a Bayesian approach into the estimation of land use models. Specifically, we conduct a whole procedure of an econometric analysis using land use models; for a given land use model, we simultaneously estimate their parameters including the variable selection, confirm the reproducibility of the data, and conduct the counterfactual experiment. Both the estimation result and its comparison with the result by the conventional method suggested the superiority of Bayesian approach as well as its potential for expansion.

    The Fundamental Diagram (FD) plays an important role in the performance evaluation of road networks. As FDs are in principal different among locations, it is desirable to estimate FDs at arbitrary locations based on actual data. Given a complete vehicle trajectory dataset, we propose a method to estimate each FD at each location. For this purpose, it is necessary to identify the sections that follow the different FDs each other. Using sparse modeling, we formulate a model that can simultaneously perform section identification and FD estimation. This enables us to determine a statistically and/or practically suitable number of sections without requiring a priori knowledge of road performance. The proposed method is applied to the actual data on the Hanshin Expressway and the validity of the estimation results is demonstrated.

    In metropolitan expressways, there is a lot of variation in road alignment and driver's personal attributes, so it is important to analyze car-following behavior in different conditions around road. Various studies have been done in the past that discuss the variation in car-behavior under various conditions, however, no studies have been conducted that focus on the variation in car-following behavior in different time zones. In this study, we analyzed car-following behavior in different time zones by estimating the parameters of Newell's car-following model from Zen-Traffic Data that includes all vehicles' trajectory information in different time zones. As a conclusion, we found that the trend of car-following behavior varies in different time zones.

    Kyoto city, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan, has a problem of congestion. To grasp tourists’ excursion behavior is necessary to take effective measures. However, traditional ways such as questionnaire survey have some limitations in terms of period, costs, etc. Recently, a lot of smartphone Apps using geographic location were launched. Some developers have accumulated the location data from them. In this research, we analyzed the GNSS trajectory data accumulated in transfer guide App and found where tourists had visited and the order of the visits during the excursion in Kyoto city. We distinguished location records of ‘stop’ and ‘just moving’, by setting threshold on the spatio-temporal interval of records.

    A road network around a railway station may affect the convenience of the station. However, only few researches have evaluated or classified a road network around a specific facility with referring to tangible factors of a road network such as length or orientation of each road link. In this paper, we propose a new evaluation method of a road network by using directional statistics. At first, we draw a rose diagram focusing on orientation of road link around a station. Next, we estimate parameters of circular distribution of the orientation and evaluate characteristics of the network by using the parameter values. The proposed model is applied to the road networks around all 21 stations on Tokyu Toyoko line. In comparison with the past studies, this method represents how the link orientations concentrate to specific directions. In addition, it becomes possible to classify road networks into several categories with similar parameter values.

    Estimation of pedestrian behavior in high-resolution is expected to advance the facility placement along the street. Generally, when capturing the walking trajectory as high resolution, it does not exist directly above the road network. However, the conventional map matching method, in which measurement coor- dinates are matched onto the network, has a problem from this viewpoint. Therefore, in this research, we propose a method to explicitly consider errors of network on continuous space. We sequentially estimate the deviation of the walking trajectory from the network as a latent variable by the GNSS measurement, taking the positioning error into account at the same time. From the measurement with error, we for- mulated a trajectory estimation which can describe the movement on the network and does not limit the actual position on the network. We showed the usefulness of the proposed method through application to simulation data in multiple settings.

    In this study, we propose a method of modeling spatial dependence on pedestrian fundamental diagrams. A fundamental relationship between density and speed of pedestrian flow is useful with regard to evaluating the level of service in pedestrian facilities. However, this relationship always depends on the position although there is typically a lack of a priori knowledge regarding the position of bottlenecks, i.e., the position to be evaluated. Therefore, we propose an approach to use data obtained at entire area in a facility. We assume that the difference of fundamental diagrams at any position in a facility could be regarded as a fluctuation. This fluctuation over positions is modeled as a spatial dependence structure. The harmonic spatial filtering approach is employed to estimate the fundamental diagram and spatial fluctuation pattern simultaneously. We show that the regression accuracy of the proposed method is better than that of a non-spatial model. Furthermore, we interpret the estimated spatial fluctuation pattern over the entire experimental area, which might be useful in facility design.

    In Japan, the disclosure of in-depth land price data is increasingly considered to be critical to establishing transparent and fair land markets. The land market value publication by the Land Appraisal Committee, under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and prefectural governments (chika-koji and chika-chosa in Japanese) have played a major role in land pricing, and since 2005, publicly accessible real estate transaction prices have also been integral components of land pricing. However, these datasets alone do not provide adequate information to all market participants. The appraised prices often differ from actual transaction prices, and important transactional information such as the precise location, time, and attributes of properties are restricted due to privacy constraints. Further, appraised prices are not easily comparable with actual transaction prices due to dissimilar distribution points.<br> In this paper, we propose the publication of land price information by interpolating appraised prices for every transaction location using kriging, and comparing them to actual transaction prices; subsequently, we draw a map that allows us to easily understand trends in land prices. In addition, we develop an experimental online database that allows for easily searchable interpolated appraised land prices, accompanied by land price history and local market conditions.

    In this study, we apply the adaptive parameter estimation method to the positioning calculation of pedestrians on network by navigation satellite systems. Like the formulation of DDR which was proposed by Bierlaire and Frejinger, we formulate the positioning accuracy as the stochastic model and introduce into the observation model of general state space model. Then we estimate the positioning accuracy using sequential Bayesian filtering. The advantages of this estimation are follows. Firstly, we don't have to assume the positioning accuracy in advance of the estimation; it is enough to employ a uniform distribution as a prior. Secondly, we can estimate simultaneously the positioning accuracy and the velocity and route choice of the pedestrian. This feature is valuable especially when we deal with the pedestrian behaviour which includes the rambling or sudden change of speed and direction. We applied the proposed method to simulation data and confirmed the estimated results, and showed the improvement in estimation accuracy compared to the conventional method. At last we apply the method to the real data.

    This paper shows a new approach to estimate parameters of pedestrian behavior model. The approach applies general state space model. In this modelling, parameter estimation is formulated as a sequential Bayesian filtering. Thus we can estimate time varying parameters which are adaptive to sequentially acquired data. Also we can deal with observation errors. Firstly we include parameters into state vectors of a general state space model and formulate an estimation equation. Secondly we define components of that model: state vector, observation vector, system model, observation model and initial distributions. Then we apply this settings to data acquired at a railway station and estimate time varying parameters. We compared estimation results with estimation settings; we discuss effects of initial distributions, variance of random walk parameters and observation accuracies. In addition, we compared estimated parameters with real situations and confirm that parameters are adaptively changed to congestions.

    It is important to analyse pedestrian traffic line with regard to planning and evaluating walking spaces. In this paper, we focus on angular data and discuss a method to analyse pedestrian traffic line. We regard traffic line as data consisted of pedestrian’s position and angle: direction of movement at each time. Basic analysis shows that many pedestrians draw a similar trajectory around a ticket gate at a station; direction of movement is mostly determined by a relative position to the ticket gate. This fact means that a position of pedestrian can explain an angle at that position. Therefore we try to model this relation, using a method developed in directional statistics. In case of a simple dataset we successfully estimated a regression model of angle, which satisfied the property of angular data such as cyclicity. At last we considered some applications of the estimated model, taking an anomaly detection and an angle-choice model for example.

    Recently sequential and stochastic human tracking method becomes popular in order to apply to complex situations that people are close to each other or are occluded by others. This paper proposes a human detection method for such tracking method, dealing with an appearance of human in observation area. We regard this human detection as an initial setting for stochastic tracking system. Firstly we detect human candidates and set initial distribution. Secondly we develop observation model using range and color information from sensors and calculate a posterior probability distribution. Thirdly we calculate expected value of human position and delete false positives, and then combine with tracking process. At last we apply the proposed method to the data acquired at the ticket gate of the railway station and show that the detection is succeeded under complex situations.

    This paper reviews the history of regional transportation system in Kochi Prefecture, Japan. The history of regional network development is categorized into the four periods: before Edo-era, Edo-era, Meiji-era to the World War II (WW II), and after the WW II. The results show Kochi has suffered from poor road accessibility because it is landlocked whereas it has developed maritime network mainly connecting Kansai Region. As it has been located far from any political centers in the past, the unique culture has been developed in Kochi. This has made the local authorizes introduce the conservative transportation policy which prevents the local people from regional travels. They also show the religious-purpose travelers contributed to the technology transfer from other regions to Kochi.

    Recently in-depth understanding of pedestrian behavior in public space is becoming significant with regard to achieving more sophisticated space design and flow control. Although there is a need to acquire automatically such behavior information, automatic human tracking is difficult under the situations that people move close to each other or are occluded by others. In this paper, we propose a new method of multiple human tracking under the complex situations. We review related works on both human tracking method by image processing and simulation model of pedestrian behavior, respectively. According to the review, we develop a method as a stochastic process, integrating them on the framework of general state space model. We apply the proposed method to the data acquired at the ticket gate of the railway station and confirm the high performance of the method. We also demonstrate the ability to acquire the OD data from the tracking result and show the future possibility.

    This paper reviews the history of regional transportation system and analyzes its impact on local society in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. The history of regional network development is categorized into the three periods: before Meiji-era, Meiji-era to the World War II (WW II), and after the WW II. Yamanashi has suffered from poor accessibility because it is landlocked. However, a number of access roads have been developed since ancient times whereas the river transportation was also established in Edo-era. Then, rail network was constructed in Meiji-era while highways connecting with Tokyo were developed after the WW II. Then, the relationship between regional transportation system and social factors including national⁄local politics, policy, and industry are discussed.
    本論文は,山梨県を事例に交通システム成立の経緯を整理するとともに,その経緯と社会的要因との関係を分析するものである.同県の広域交通ネットワークの発展経緯を,近世以前,明治~戦前,戦後の3つの時代区分にしたがって整理した.山梨は,元来,山々に囲まれた地域であるため,近隣地域とのアクセスが不便であった.しかし,古来より道路網が整備されており,一時は,富士川を通じた舟運も栄えた.明治時代に入り,近代化が進められると,鉄道が整備され,舟運は衰退した.戦後は,観光農業と製造業が盛んとなり,東京という巨大市場へのアクセス向上のため新笹子トンネルや中央高速道路が開通された.これらの経緯を踏まえつつ,交通に関連する社会的要因を,国内動向,政治・政策,産業・宗教に分類し,これらと交通システムとの相互関係を時代別に分析した.

    This study aims to understand damaged area spatiotemporally by tweet data with location information as a case study of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Firstly, we make a list of tweet data with location information in Tohoku area from March 11 to March 18, 2011, from raw data of tweets in Japanese. In this process, bot accounts including seismic intensity information and "google person under" are excluded because they don't represent actual local conditions. Secondly, considering each tweet on the list as a expression of human activity of an area where tweet is made, we spatially extrapolate the tweets using Kernel density estimation approach and draw a "tweet-density distribution map." Then we try to understand the place and condition of damaged area is by this map, as well as comparison with other information such as DMSP night time map which is regarded as an indicator of ordinary human activities. As a result, we show the possibility of tweet data with location data to estimate heavily damaged area spatially and temporally. In addition, future works for further utilization of this map e.g. a review of useful comparison data for interpretation of proposed map are listed.

    現在,我が国の都市間高速道路の主要な渋滞箇所である単路部(サグやトンネル等)では,ペースメーカーライトや音声注意喚起等の交通制御が各地で導入され,一定の成果をあげている.本研究の目的は,交通流に様々なパターンで介入できる“実験的な状況”を活用し,安定的な交通性能の改善に繋がる知見を得ることである.具体的には,本研究は,大きく次の2つの柱からなる:(A)「走行挙動-交通性能」関係を観測スケールで記述するマクロな交通流理論の確立・検証;(B)「交通制御による介入-走行挙動変化」関係を把握のためのミクロな運転挙動分析.
    <BR>
    初年度の令和5年度では主に,(A), (B) に関わる要素技術の開発を行った.具体的には,(A) では,マクロ交通流理論に基づき渋滞中の速度回復挙動と交通容量を定量的に結びつける手法を様々な地点に適用し,その頑健性を確認するとともに,応用としてボトルネックの正確な位置把握や交通制御導入効果の持続性について考察した.また,理論の入力となる基本パラメータ(交通基本図)の新たな推定手法や,今後の理論検証に必要となる車線変更も含む多車線道路での車両軌跡を精緻に再構築する手法の開発を行った.(B) では,代表的なミクロな運転挙動分析として車線変更挙動に焦点を当て,車両軌跡に基づく時系列クラスタリングや交通流への影響の類型化,運転意図とストレス指標の関係分析と多角的に分析を行った.
    <BR>
    また,本研究のメンバーも参画している産学連携自主研究グループで上記成果について共有し,研究期間後半で分析予定の実証実験シナリオについての議論を開始した(実験自体はあくまで産学連携研究グループで実施される).

    本研究課題では、複数の車両検知器で観測される一連の車両到着時刻に対して非線形モデリングを行い、交通量変動を記述する。その結果から、交通状態改善のために制御が必要な車両や車群を個別に特定し、それらの車両に対する速度制御などの効果を実験的に示すことで、新たな交通制御の可能性を検討する。このうち後半の2年間は、交通量変動の原因がいつどこの検知器で観測されうるのかを念頭に、観測結果と具体的な個別車両の挙動との関連づけを行うことを目的としている。
    本年度は、まず一昨年度に発見された課題であるミクロ的な分析とマクロ理論との整合性について、さらなる検討を行った。具体的には、分析の時間・空間幅の設定を通して、分析が不安定になる条件を絞り込んだ。必ずしも原因は明らかとなっていないが、一定程度の時間・空間幅を持たせれば不安定性は大きく減少することを確認している。それと並行して、昨年度までの成果をベースに、各検知器における車両到着パターン変動の原因を車両個別の挙動に対応づけるための検討を行った。現在までに、目視でも明示的な、たとえば特定の車両の速度が著しく低下しているような場合にはその車両を、渋滞の原因としてモデル上でも比較的安定して検出できることを確認している。一方で、目視で明示的とは言えない渋滞の発生地点・時点については、モデル上で検出された場合であってもその結果の妥当性を評価する方法を別途検討する必要があることが確認された。

    It is important to examine what is a reliable road network for both emergency and ordinary situations in Japan. In this research project, probe data including ETC2.0 as well as traffic counter data are integrated, and within-day/day-to-day dynamics of traffic states of road network was investigated. This enables us to evaluate vulnerability analysis of road network for disaster situations and to make a travel time reliability analysis under the ordinary situations.

    This research aims to build a theoretical basis for the management of wide-area transport networks in the event of a large-scale natural disaster that greatly exceeds the people's daily activity area. We focused on the problems related to emergency wide-area evacuation within about one week after the disaster and the problem of supplying daily supplies to evacuees. We have achieved followings; (1) formulation of a common theoretical foundation for transportation network management in the event of a disaster,(2) establishment of a management theory for wide-area evacuation and transportation of daily necessities and (3) a case study ofintegrated wide-area evacuation and transport supply of daily necessities.

    We construct a pedestrian facility evaluation method based on spatial statistics and flow-density relationship of traffic theory. The following three results were obtained. (1) A pedestrian trajectory estimation and its accuracy evaluation method using spatio-temporally high resolution data from GPS observation by a smartphone was developed. (2) Using these data, the method of deriving and visualizing the fluctuation in the flow-density relationship in the facility was constructed by considering spatial correlation. (3) We applied this method to long-term observation data and confirmed the stability of the estimation results.

    Paratransit, which is a transportation system rooted in the region, has been redefined under the name LAMAT (Locally Adapted, Modified and Advanced Transport). Together with researchers from Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka, we conducted a comprehensive survey of medium-sized cities in Asian countries, including users, drivers, unions, and governments. Then, we clarified the uniqueness and generality of LAMAT, and developed a planning analytical tool to evaluate LAMAT's plans and projects.In addition, by experimenting some results in the model area, we obtained useful results to promote planning and projects in which LAMAT and the next-generation transportation system harmonize.

    本年度は、まず、研究課題の前提となる人物追跡手法の基礎手法について発表を行った。また、人物追跡を長期間連続的に行うために不可欠となる、人物抽出手法を構築し、その発表を行った。その上で、これらの手法において利用されている予測モデル・観測モデルの評価を行った。具体的には、追跡および抽出で利用している一般状態空間モデルの枠組みを利用して、各時点において利用している予測・観測モデルの適合性を定量的に評価する手法を構築した。特に、予測モデルについては、逐次的に追跡精度の良いモデルを選択する手法として、一般状態空間モデルの尤度をモニタリングしながらモデル形式を選択する手法と、一般状態空間モデルにおいてパラメータ分布自体を逐次ベイズ推定し最適化する手法との2種類を組み合わせた。構築手法の性能を実データへの適用により検証するとともに、適した予測モデルが時間・空間および個人によって異なっていることを確認した。このことにより、複数モデルを自動的に使い分けることで、従来は困難であった、多様なモデルに従う人物が共存する場における挙動予測の可能性を示した。これらの成果については、各分野における論文誌・学会で発表するべく、論文を執筆・投稿中である。さらに、動線解析手法に対しては、自動追跡によって取得される動線に含まれる計測誤差と、その誤差が集計情報の作成時に及ぼす影響との関係について基礎的な検討を行った。その結果、動線の計測誤差と集計によって発生する誤差との分離が重要であることが確認された。
