    1. Introduction

    It is well known that panel zones at beam-column joints of steel moment-resisting frames may yield under strong ground motion as well as beams and columns. It has been mentioned that the effect of shear force is dominant in the elasto-plastic behavior of panel zones, but as the panel aspect ratio, that is ratio between height and diameter of panel, increases, the effect of bending moment cannot be ignored. The main objective of this paper is to clarify the effect of aspect ratio on elasto-plastic behavior, e.g, elastic stiffness, full plastic strength and plastic deformation capacity, of panel zones with circular hollow sections.

     

    2. Cyclic loading test of single panel specimen

    To reveal elasto-plastic behavior of circular hollow section panel zones, cyclic loading test of single panel zones with a large aspect ratio were conducted. The ultimate state of the panel zones was either shear buckling, local buckling due to bending moment, or ductile crack at the surface of panel flange. The elastic stiffnesses of single panel zones agree well with the results by Eq. (3), which considers both shear deformations and flexural deformations.

     

    3. Finite element analysis for reproducing test results

    To examine in detail the test results in Chapter 2 and validate the finite element analysis (FEA) described in Chapter 4, reproduction FEA was performed. The analysis results correspond well with the test results and the validity of the FEA model is confirmed. The analysis results show that the presence of the backing bar affects initiation of ductile crack at the surface of panel flange observed during the cyclic loading test.

     

    4. Parametric study by finite element analysis

    FEA was conducted on a wider range of parameters than experiments to confirm the influence of parameters, including aspect ratio, on the full plastic strength and plastic deformation capacity due to buckling of single circular cross-section panel zones. The analysis results show that the effect of the diameter-to-thickness ratio on the full plastic strength is quite small, while the full plastic strength decreases as the aspect ratio rises. Moreover, it is found that the yielding part of the entire panel zone varies with the aspect ratio and axial force ratio when the panel reaches the full plastic strength. In addition, the analysis results show that in the case those panel zones reaches the ultimate state by local buckling due to bending moment, the plastic deformation capacity tends to decrease as the aspect ratio rises, while in the case of shear buckling, the plastic deformation capacity is minimized around the aspect ratio of 1.4.

     

    5. Investigation of calculating method of the full-plastic strength of circular hollow section panel zones

    The validity of the previous calculation method2), 9), 10) of full-plastic strength of circular hollow section panel zones with large aspect ratio was examined based on the results of FEA. The calculation results in Ref.9) agreed well with FEA results as shown in Fig.17.

     

    6. Conclusions

    This paper investigates the effect of aspect ratio on elastic stiffness, full plastic strength and plastic deformation capacity of panel zones with circular hollow sections. As a result, it is confirmed that the influence of the aspect ratio appears for all of the above properties.

    In Japan, steel moment frames, which consist of H-shaped beams and square hollow section columns with through diaphragms, are often used for building structures. It is commonly known that panel zones of these steel moment frames often yield under strong ground motion and have high deformation capacity. In order to take into account high deformation capacity of panel zone for seismic design, it is needed to calculate the full plastic strength of panel zone. Several methods for calculating the full plastic strength of panel zone have been proposed by previous researches [Ref. 5]-7]]. For example, in the most frequently used method, which is adopted in the recommendation [Ref. 3]], only axial force and shear force is considered, and the effect of bending moments which act upon the top and bottom of panel zone is ignored. Thus, this method can only be applied to the panel with aspect ratio up to 1.6 [Ref. 3]]. On the other hand, most methods proposed by previous researches can not correspond to arbitrary directional shear force. Therefore, this paper proposes a new method to calculate the full plastic strength of square hollow section panel zones with through diaphragms under axial force, bi-directional shear forces and bi-axial bending moments.<br> Firstly, cyclic loading test was conducted in order to investigate effects of aspect ratio, axial force and input direction of shear force on elasto-plastic behavior of square hollow section panel zones, as described in Chapter 2. From the test results, it is clarified that ultimate states are classified as ductile crack, shear buckling, and local buckling. And the deformation capacity with shear buckling is larger than the cases with other ultimate states. Furthermore, it is verified that maximum strengths of panel with small aspect ratio and small axial force ratio under 45 degrees input are larger than those in other cases.<br> Secondly, finite element analysis (FEA) was conducted in order to verify full plastic strengths with various parameters more than the cyclic loading test. The validity of FEA model is confirmed by comparing between FEA results and loading test results, as discussed in Chapter 3. Strength interaction curves of bi-directional shear force, which are obtained by FEA, are shown in Fig. 12-14. From these figures, while the aspect ratio and axial force ratio are small, the strength interaction curve looks like square with a bit round at corner because shear yielding mainly occurs at all over the panel. On the other hand, while either aspect ratio or axial force ratio is large, the strength interaction curve is circlelike due to yielding under shear stress and normal stress at ends of panel.<br> Finally, a method to estimate the full plastic strength of square hollow section panel with through diaphragms, considered with correlation among axial force, arbitrary bi-directional shear force and bi-axial bending moment, is proposed. The full plastic strength is obtained as the smallest one between strength at center section and strength at end section. In Fig. 19 and 20, calculation results by the proposed method are compared to analysis results from Chapter 4. From these figures, in case aspect ratio is over 2.5 and input direction of 0 degrees without axial force, calculation results by proposed method underestimates full plastic strength of panel as much as 20%. However, aspect ratio of panel zones, which is used in steel moment frames, are usually under 2.0, in this case, calculation results by proposed method corresponds well to finite elements analysis results.

    For examining lateral-torsional buckling behavior of H-shaped steel beam with concrete floor slab,numerical model with springs,which are considered with restraint effect by slab,on the beam upper flange is often used. This paper describes the restraint effect by slab on the beam,e.g.,torsional stiffness,lateral stiffness,maximum strength,and so on. First,loading test with slab-beam subassemblies was conducted to confirm the effects of some kinds of parameters on the stiffness and strength at the connection between beam upper flange and concrete slab. Second,prediction results by past researches and test results are compared,and in a part,new methods are proposed to enhance accuracy of prediction results.

    In 2007, the building standard law of Japan was revised and a specification of column overdesign factor (COF) was added in case of square tube columns. These researches deal with existing non-conformed steel buildings using STKR columns according to being not satisfied with the specification of COF. In this paper, in order to enhance the full-plastic moment of column, reinforcement wrapping mortar around column base is proposed. An experimental verification of reinforced column was conducted to investigate mechanical behavior and confirm the validity of reinforcement design method. As a result, specifications for providing required bending moment to column were clarified.

    In case of non-diaphragm type beam-to-column connection, out-of-plane deformation of column flange occurs and has some effect on overall behavior of steel frame. This paper investigates mechanical behavior of non-diaphragm type beam-to-column connection using thick square hollow section by means of full-scale loading test and finite element method analysis. As a result, it is clarified that distribution of shear force at panel zone of non-diaphragm type is differnt from that of through-diaphragm type, and strength of the non-diaphragm panel decreases and elastic stiffness increases.

    In order to prevent out-of-plane buckling of buckling-restrained brace, its connections must have enough out-of-plane stiffness and be kept elastic. This paper deals with out-of-plane stiffness and yield strength of buckling-restrained brace's connection whose section is cruciform. Firstly, methods of calculating both out-of-plane stiffness and yield strength of connection are proposed by means of RBSM. And secondly, experimental verifications to load connection specimens were conducted. As a result, it is clarified that out-of-plane stiffness is very small if finstiffener is not connected to beam-flange. Therefore, it is recommended that fin-stiffener should be welded to beam-flange to satisfy required out-of-plane stiffness and yield strength.

    This paper presents the results of an experimental verification on a full-scale three story 'weld-free' structure, which is proposed as an innovative steel frame adopting mechanical joints equipped with buckling-restrained type knee brace dampers for wide-flange moment frames. Major findings are as follows: (1) The weld-free structure exhibits stable hysteresis behavior under 0.04 radian drift angle in-plane, (2) The yield mechanism by plastification of dampers and column bases meet the target mechanism, (3) The structure collapses by overall buckling of dampers and lateral-torsional buckling of beams but the maximum drift angle attained 0.10 radian preserving sufficient lateral resistance.

    本研究では,鋼構造柱梁接合部(梁端接合部および柱端接合部)の亀裂発生感度と累積損傷・変形性能の関係を体系的な実験・解析により定量化することを目的としている.研究2年目の令和5年度は,繰返し履歴を考慮できる有限要素法解析プログラムとして「MSC MARC」を新たに導入し,パラメトリック解析を実施するための各種の整備を行った.また,梁端接合部に関する構造実験の試験体を製作した.
    梁端接合部については,前年度の検討から,エンドタブ形式(固形/スチール)が歪集中係数に及ぼす影響は,スカラップの有無と組み合わせた複合的な評価が必要であることが判明した.そもそもエンドタブ形式の影響を受ける梁端フランジ幅端部には溶接部が存在し,形状不連続だけでなく材料不連続も有する評価が難しい部位である.そこで問題を明快にするために,材料不連続のないスカラップ底からの破断に焦点をあて,断面寸法および載荷履歴などをパラメータとした事前解析を実施し,構造実験のパラメータを確定させた上で計6体の試験体を製作した.また,最新の亀裂発生評価指標であるロード角パラメータの算定に必要となる様々な形状の機械試験を計画し,パラメータ同定のための解析モデルを構築した.
    柱端接合部については,パラメトリック解析に先立って解析モデルの簡略化に取り組んだ.せん断曲げを受ける角形鋼管角部の材端部における応力・歪状態を,2Dソリッド要素の軸対称モデルで再現できることを示し,ポアソン効果による変形拘束を考慮した解析モデルの構築に成功した.年度末には,溶接止端部の寸法および材料特性分布(母材と溶接金属の強度比)に関するパラメトリック解析に着手しており,解析結果が出揃えば,延性亀裂発生条件に基づく塑性変形性能と各影響因子の関係を定量的に評価できる見込みが得られた.

    In this study, the elasto-plastic behavior of three-dimensional column-beam specimens with a floor slab was investigated for the seismic performance evaluation of the steel moment frame consisted from square hollow section columns and wide flange beams. The center or corner column-beam specimens with a floor slab were investigated by the bi-directional loading test. From test results, the effects of the frame shape, the loading direction and the strength ratio between members were clarified experimentally. In addition, the effect of the floor slab was clarified by comparison with the past test results of specimens without a floor slab. Moreover, the stress transfer mechanism around column- beam connection was investigated by a finite element analysis. From analysis results, the deformation capacity by the fracture of the beam-end connection limited were clarified analytically.

    1)高層建物の平面骨組低層部3層を取り出した形の魚骨形骨組試験体による大変形載荷実験のために,魚骨梁端部をリンク材で結合することにより梁端の境界条件を実現し,上層の自重を模した鉛直力を柱頂部に載荷し,地震力を模した水平力を頂部の柱梁交点に加力することが可能な載荷装置を開発した。試験体は,柱梁耐力比、部材幅厚比、柱軸力比をパラメータとし,崩壊形が異なる3種類の魚骨形骨組を選定し,これを対象に大変形載荷実験を行い,梁端破断,柱・梁・柱脚の局部座屈,パネル降伏の損傷を経て倒壊に至る挙動を把握した。また,同一条件の数値解析を実施し,崩壊型を決定づける部材耐力劣化の怪異時期や劣化の進行を実験と比較・分析した。
    2)柱梁部材の大変形繰返し載荷実験。魚骨形骨組試験体の構造要素の履歴特性を把握するための繰返し載荷実験は,1)の魚骨形骨組実験において柱,梁,接合部パネル,柱脚の全ての構造要素の弾塑性履歴挙動を取得可能な計測機器を配備することにより,必要なデータを取得した。
    3)ロッキング方式PCa帳壁付架構の変位追従限界後の挙動を検討するために実施された、構面方向パネル,構面外方向パネル,2方向が直交するコーナー部の3種類の配置の異なる載荷実験結果を分析し,変位追従時とその限界を越えた後のパネルによる層せん断力―層間変形角の関係式を導出した。その結果,パネル水平力が地震時に骨組耐力に及ぼす影響を検討するためのモデルを構築することに成功した。
    4)角形鋼管柱の載荷実験で観察された局部座屈と破断による劣化域を含む履歴挙動を再現できるようにMS要素を用いた解析モデルの構築を行い,部材端部にMS要素を配置した立体骨組解析プログラムを作成し,バイリニア型の履歴特性で地震応答解析を行った。その結果,柱の損傷を抑制して梁降伏先行型の安定した履歴挙動を確保するのに必要な柱梁耐力比を提示した。

    Comprehensive verifications as following for practical realization of seismic floor, which has the advantages that seismic performance and productivity under dismantlement are superior to that of the conventional floor slab, were conducted; (1) Selection of polymeric material for seismic floor, (2) Formulation of prediction method of maximum responses of building structure with seismic floor, (3) Experimental verification of multi-story elasto-plastic structures with seismic floor, (4) Verification of in-plane stiffness and in-plane strength of floor, (5) Verification of vertical vibration characteristics of seismic floor, and (6) Verification of productivity of seismic floor.
    As a result, useful technical data and knowledges were obtained from these verifications. In particular, for the purpose of the design of seismic floor, the evaluation methods were proposed and points to notice were revealed about tasks from (1) to (4).

    We have developed a new floor system, which is built up by installing visco容lastic materials (VEMs) between floor slab and beam upper flange, to enhance seismic performance of a building structure. Numerical analysis and shaking table test were conducted in order to verify seismic response of single耀tory steel moment frame equipped with the proposed floor system. From these investigations, effects of various parameters on seismic response were revealed, for instance, story drift decreases and shear deformation of VEM increases when shape factor of VEM becomes smaller. As a result, it is clarified that the shape factor of VEM should be defined appropriately.

    In order to evaluate deformation capacity of moment connections until fracture for steel high-rise buildings subjected to long-period long-duration ground motion, a series of constant and varying amplitude cyclic loading tests were conducted. The effect of strength of connection, welding details and floor slab on deformation capacity were quantitatively indicated and the prediction method to estimate propagation of cracks was proposed to evaluate deformation capacity until fracture of connection.     既往の研究や地震被害の特徴から,柱脚性能と鉄骨建物の間の関係に着目して既存建物の耐震性能を論じようとしたとき,柱脚の実態について明らかにすべき課題が多岐にわたり,さらに定量的な情報を与える設計・施工の現場の技術資料が不足しているなど,その解決が容易ではない課題であることが再認識される.本研究はこの課題に取り組む方法として,(1)既存建物から採取した柱脚の実性能を実験で検証し,(2)上部構造と総合して品質上の問題点を踏まえた実建物の耐震性能を明らかにする,という手順を考え,具体的な既存鉄骨建物にこれを適用してその手法の妥当性を検証したものである.
    具体的な検討対象は1969年建設の2階建鉄骨建物である.
    (1)既存鉄骨建物の柱脚性能検証:実在する建物の性能を,施工品質の影響も含めて実物の載荷実験により検証した.箱形断面柱にベースプレートを介してアンカーボルトにより露出形式により接合されている点は現在と共通するが,柱とベースプレートの溶接が片面隅肉溶接であり,耐力の不足をリブ・スチフナにより補う設計としている点が現在と異なる特徴である.アンカーボルトの降伏が先行した後,ベースプレートが降伏し,最大変形角0.1radまで露出柱脚固有の履歴特性を示した.その間,溶接形式の特徴は力学特性に影響を及ぼしていないが,最終破壊形式は隅肉溶接の破断によるもので,これが変形能力を限界付けている点が現在と異なる特徴である.
    (2)既存鉄骨建物の柱脚性能実験により明らかにされた柱脚の構造特性,履歴特性,塑性変形能力,破壊限界に関する情報を定量化し,その成果を既存鉄骨建物の数値解析モデルに適用することにより,鉄骨建物全体の地震時応答特性と耐震能力の評価を試みた.

    1.Seismic performance of an existing steel building constructed in 1969 was experimentally evaluated. The inspection was focused on strength and deformation capacity of moment connections and column base connections jointed by fillet welding. Based on hysteresis relations obtained from dynamic loading test, the seismic responses and performance of the overall building was analytically evaluated.
    2.Seismic performance of three existing steel buildings constructed in 1980s were experimentally evaluated. The research was focused on through diaphragm type moment connections composed of square tube columns and wide flange beams joined by complete joint penetration welding. Inspections on welding revealed characteristics of welding defects and the effect on deformation capacity of moment connections by dynamic loading tests.
    3.Full-scale dynamic tests on restrained brace type dampers subjected long-period ground motions were conducted to evaluate deformation capacity of hysteretic dampers. The test results revealed sufficient capacity of dampers to retrofit of existing tall buildings constructed in early period.
    4.Seismic performance of moment connections composed of large section members adopted for tall buildings was experimentally examined. Built-up Square tube columns fabricated by electro-slag welding and large depth beams (800mm and 1000mm) were used to reproduce the moment connections in 1970s. The deformation capacity of the beam-column subassemblies were experimentally investigated.
