トロヌ・カルラ外国人特別研究員との共同研究では、2018年度も外国人特別研究員によって日本国内と海外において活発な研究発表がなされたが、受入研究者の側の研究を含めるならば、次の4点に、研究成果をまとめることができる。
（1）キリシタン時代のキリスト教を担ったイエズス会について、その宣教方針である「適応主義」を、キリスト教思想における「適応の原理」として取り出すことができ、また諸修道会における日本人殉教者の顕彰の在り方についてもその実態の比較検討がなされた。（2）キリシタン研究を東アジアのキリスト教研究へと方法論的に関連付けること、また、その中に東アジアにおけるカトリック諸修道会の動向を結びつけることが試みられた。これは重要な成果である。（3）キリシタン殉教を、江戸幕府の宗教政策を経て、明治から現代までのキリスト教思想史につなぐことがなされた。これは、以下に述べるパネル発表で論じられ、論文化された。（4）現代の記憶論・証言論を参照しつつ、現代キリスト教思想における殉教論の可能性を考察した。これについても、次に述べるパネル発表で論じられ、論文化された。
共同研究はさまざまな成果を生みだしたが、最大の成果は、次のパネル発表とその論文化である。パネル発表は、日本宗教学会・第77回学術大会（大谷大学、9月9日）において、「日本におけるキリシタン殉教者の歴史的記憶」として実施された。このパネルは、外国人特別研究員と受入研究者のほかに、淺野淳博氏（新約聖書学者）と狭間芳樹氏（キリシタン研究者）を加え、4名の発表者によって、構成された。このパネルでは、新約聖書研究者を加えることによって、日本のキリシタン殉教がキリスト教史（特に古代の殉教史）に実証的に関連付けられることができたが、今後の研究では、こうした時代を越えた比較研究の実施が重要であることが明らかになった。
