    A high‐performance electro‐thermal micro‐actuator for active optical devices is demonstrated, fabricated via the direct laser writing (DLW) of laser‐induced graphene (LIG) onto a colorless polyimide (CPI) substrate. This approach leverages the unique combination of LIG's exceptional thermal conductivity (4.70–11.3 W m⁻¹K⁻¹, representing a two‐order‐of‐magnitude enhancement over CPI) and CPI's inherent transparency, flexibility, and high thermal stability. The LIG exhibits rapid thermal actuation of optically reflective surface with frequencies up to 2 kHz. Furthermore, the optically diffractive electro‐thermal actuators enable 0.5‐millidegree‐resolution beam steering with 0.9 s response times, transitioning the LIG actuators from the quasi‐steady state to an active regime. This high‐speed, high‐precision actuation mechanism demonstrates the potential for high‐speed dynamic optical control in compact systems, such as focus‐tunable lenses and beam‐steering devices. The single‐step DLW fabrication process on a readily available, flexible, and transparent substrate offers significant advantages in terms of cost‐effectiveness and scalability, making this approach highly promising for next‐generation lightweight, flexible, and integrated optoelectronic devices.

    Quantum transduction between microwave and optical photons plays a key role in quantum communication among remote qubits. Although the quantum transduction schemes generating communication photons have been successfully demonstrated by using optomechanical interfaces, the low conversion efficiency remains an obstacle to the implementation of a quantum network consisting of multiple qubits. Here, we present an efficient quantum transduction scheme using a one-dimensional diamond optomechanical crystal cavity tuned at a color-center emission without optomechanical coupling. The optomechanical crystal cavity incorporates a thin aluminum nitride (AlN) pad piezoelectric coupler near the concentrator cavity region, while retaining ultrasmall mechanical and optical mode volumes of about 1.5×10^−4(Λp)^3 and 0.2(λ/n)^3, respectively. The energy level of a coherent color-center electron is manipulated by a strong mechanical-mode–color-center electron-coupling rate up to 16.4 MHz. In our system, we theoretically predict that the population-conversion efficiency from a single microwave photon into an optical photon can reach 15% combined with current technologies. The coherent conversion efficiency is over 10% with a reasonably pure decay time of T^∗2>10ns. Our results imply that an atomic color center strongly coupled to the optomechanical crystal cavity will offer a highly efficient quantum transduction platform.

    We develop an ultrahigh-temperature vacuum probe station (UHT-VPS) featuring a sample holder heated by thermal radiation from a silicon carbide heater. This contactless configuration electrically isolates the sample from the high-power heating source through a vacuum gap, ensuring reliable measurements under extreme conditions. The capability of this UHT-VPS to measure electrical signals from 30 nV upward on bulk sapphire is demonstrated through the 3ω/2ω method. The measurements are continuously operated from 300 to 1150 K, under a high vacuum of 2 × 10−6 mbar, for a total of about 66 h without readjusting the contact, and yield the linear and quadratic temperature coefficients of resistance of chromium/platinum micro-resistances, as well as the sapphire’s thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity. By recording the heater and sensor temperature signals up to 30 kHz and fitting them with theoretical models that take into account the quadratic temperature coefficient of resistance of Cr/Pt microwires, we obtain values in agreement with the literature data determined by optical methods. In this range of temperature, we also measure thermal conductivity, which cannot be directly accessed by optical methods. Our system thus provides an effective solution for simultaneously retrieving the electrical and thermal properties of materials using a single set of 3ω/2ω data up to unprecedented temperature levels.

    Abstract

    Laser-induced forward transfer (LIFT) is a powerful tool for micro and nanoscale digital printing of metals for electronic packaging. In the metal LIFT process, the donor thin metal film is propelled to the receiving substrate and deposited on it. Morphology of the deposited metal varies with the thermodynamic responses of the donor thin film during and after the laser heating. Thus, the thermophysical properties of the multilayered donor sample are important to predict the LIFT process accurately. Here, we investigated thermophysical properties of a 100 nm-thick gold coated on 0.5 mm-thick sapphire and silicon substrates by means of the nanosecond time-domain thermoreflectance (ns-TDTR) analyzed by the network identification by deconvolution (NID) algorithm, which does not require numerical simulation or analytical solution. The NID algorithm enabled us to extract the thermal time constants of the sample from the nanosecond thermal decay of the sample surface. Furthermore, the cumulative and differential structure functions allowed us to investigate the heat flow path, giving the interfacial thermal resistance and the thermal conductivity of the substrate. After calibration of the NID algorithm using the thermal conductivity of the sapphire, the thermal conductivity of the silicon was determined to be 107–151 W/(m K), which is in good agreement with the widely accepted range of 110–148 W/(m K). Our study shows the feasibility of the structure function obtained from the single-shot TDTR experiments for thermal property estimation in laser processing and electronics packaging applications.

    SiC is expected as a next generation power semiconductor material due to its excellent properties. For SiC power device production, an efficient drilling method for 3D packaging technology aiming at further space saving is needed. In order to improve the quality of laser drilling process on SiC, Bessel beam laser drilling was conducted. Due to side lobes of Bessel beam, the effects of its long focal depth and small spot size were not obtained under the processing parameters we selected. To find appropriate processing conditions of Bessel beam laser drilling, further investigation is needed.

    For the fabrication of groove on FTO thin film, substrate (glass) side laser scribing is usually used to obtain several tens μm groove width. In this study, in order to achieve smaller groove width, Bessel beam, which has extremely small beam waist, was used instead of Gaussian beam. Novel optical system has been designed to shape Bessel beam with 4〜5 μm width and 20 mm focal depth. Experimentally, we achieved perfectly isolated grooves with only 2.0〜3.0 μm width along 10 mm on focal direction.

    Parametric studies to predict the conditions of the onset of natural convection in fluidic optical devices are given. Thermal lens effect in fluidic optical devices induced by CW laser heating may accompany the onset of the natural convection closely associated to the characteristics of the devices. When natural convection occurs in fluidic optical devices, it cannot be used as laser beam shaper because laser beam is distorted. It has been investigated that the onset of the natural convection is strongly dependent on configuration of fluidic optical device. In particular, the optical thickness of the cell, in which liquid medium is filled, has significant effect on the onset of the natural convection.

    ナノ秒パルスレーザビームの時間強度分布シェイパの開発とレーザ微細加工への応用を睨んで,2016年度には(1)透明導電薄膜のベッセルビームスクライビングプロセスと(2)4H-SiCのTSVのためのレーザドリリング加工の特性解明に取り組んだ.
    (1)について:透明導電薄膜のナノ秒パルスレーザスクライビングにベッセルビームを用いることでアブレーション中のプラズマ遮蔽の影響を最小化し,単パルス照射による薄膜の除去が可能であることを実験および数値モデリングにより解明した.レーザビームの伝搬とレーザ加熱による材料の温度上昇をカップリングした数値モデルを開発した.この数値モデルを用いてベッセルビームがプラズマプルーム後方で回折して薄膜厚方向でも顕著な加熱が行われることを明らかにした.数値解析結果は実験結果ともよい一致を示していた.この研究により今まで貫通穴加工に限られていたベッセルビームの応用分野を透明薄膜の除去加工まで拡張できたと考えられる.
    (2)について:化学・機械的に耐久性の優れた4H-SiCは従来のエッチングが困難であり,エッチングレートも非常に遅いことが現状である.一方,基板の貫通加工は電子デバイスの形状と機能の高度化のために不可欠なプロセスである.ここで,本研究では高速な加工が可能なナノ秒パルスレーザを4H-SiCの穴あけ加工に用いるための基礎的な検討を行った.ビームプロファイル(ガウシアン,ベッセル),波長(1064 nm, 532 nm)および加工環境(空中,水中)を変化させながら穴あけ加工の特性を調べた.穴あけ加工結果についてラマン分光等を用いて検討した結果,表面の炭化とSi再凝固層形成が加工の分解能と穴の深さに大きな影響を及ぼすことが分かった.本研究で得られた知見は高バンドギャップ半導体材料のレーザ穴あけ加工手法の提案に用いられると考えられる.
