    In order to decontaminate the forest environment, removal of fallen leaves, tree felling, pruning contaminated with radioactive cesium (Cs) by Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident are being conducted. The amount of plant-based waste generated by decontamination is enormous, and it is required to reduce the volume and recycle the waste due to the difficulty in securing a storage place. Therefore, in this research, we examined the method of Cs separating and reducing the volume of the waste by washing the plant-based waste with subcritical water, and, investigated the possibility of recycling the waste after Cs separation.

    In this research, the purpose is the development of separation technique of Cs from contaminated soil by the use of organic acids produced from agricultural forest biomass and waste biomass and subcritical water. Experimental results showed that the hydrothermal treatment with the biomass can be effective for the promotion of Cs separation from the contaminated clay component in the soil. Moreover, the clarification of the Cs separation mechanism, the investigation of effective mixing condition and the evaluation of this technique from the view point of practical use were conducted.
