    <jats:p>Perovskite oxide based composites with conductive carbonaceous materials have garnered significant attention for their high oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity in alkaline media. While extensive research has focused on the rational design of perovskites, the role of carbon additives has received less attention despite their thermodynamic instability under OER conditions. This study investigated the OER and corrosion behavior of composite catalysts by employing LaCoO3 (LCO) and Sr2Co0.8Fe0.2O3Cl (SCFOC) catalysts with different OER mechanisms and activities, and carbonaceous materials with different graphitization degrees. We applied the online differential electrochemical mass spectroscopy for the quantification of the CO2 evolution current hidden in the overall oxidation current at the OER potential. The LCO composite with amorphous carbon exhibited a substantial CO2 evolution when compared with the graphitized carbon, indicating that the apparent OER currents include contributions from carbon oxidative corrosion. In contrast, the noticeable CO2 evolution current of the SCFOC composite was almost independent of the graphitization degree of the carbon, suggesting overestimation of its OER activity. These findings highlight the importance of selecting appropriate carbon and optimizing the compositions for precise determination of the OER activities from a methodological viewpoint, while balancing the performance and durability from a practical viewpoint.</jats:p>

    アニオン欠損を酸化物に導入することは電気伝導性や磁性などの物性の変化をもたらし、またイオン伝導性や触媒活性といった様々な機能性の獲得をもたらす。アニオン欠損の研究は特にペロブスカイト酸化物ABO3 (A,Bは金属イオン)において盛んに行われている。本研究では、八面体を好む金属と四面体を好む金属を合理的に組み合わせることでアニオン欠損構造を持つペロブスカイト物質の合成と新規物質探索を行うことを目的とする。特に、これまで開拓があまり進んでいない、(111)p面欠損を持つペロブスカイトに特に注目して、新規物質の合成や物性開拓を進めている。
    R5年度は、(111)p面欠損を持つ新規酸素欠損ペロブスカイト酸化物Ba6Ta2Na2X2O17 (X = P, V)をInorganic Chemstry誌に報告した。直前にNature誌(Szymanski et al. Nature 2023, 624, 86-91.)に報告された構造解析の誤りを正すもので、学術的に重要な結果であると考えている。また、酸素欠陥秩序を持つSr3Fe2O7-dの酸素放出挙動の反応過程の可視化の論文をAdv. Sci.誌に報告した。さらに超高圧フラックス法を用いた酸水素化物ペロブスカイトの合成の論文をJ. Am. Chem. Soc.誌に報告するなど、多くのアウトプットを行った。

    亜鉛極は安価、高容量かつ比較的低電位で不燃性のアルカリ水溶液において作動可能なため、次世代の二次電池負極として期待されている。しかし、充放電を繰り返すことで電極形状変化、不動態化が生じ容量劣化が進行するため、長寿命化が喫緊の課題となっている。亜鉛極の充放電反応は電気化学反応である亜鉛の溶解析出反応(過程1)、電解液中の亜鉛酸イオンの輸送(過程2)、化学反応である酸化亜鉛の溶解析出反応 (過程3)の3つの過程で構成される。中間生成物である亜鉛酸イオンの輸送距離が長すぎると、過程1と過程3が異なる領域で進行して形状変化 が生じ、輸送距離が短すぎると、亜鉛上に緻密な酸化亜鉛の被膜が形成され不動態化が進行することが知られている。本研究では、亜鉛酸イオン輸送距離を支配する電極反応速度論を解析することで、長寿命化のための電解液設計指針を打ち出すことを目的とする。
    本年度はX線回折測定と共焦点顕微鏡測定を組み合わせたその場測定系の構築を行い、亜鉛極充放電反応に与える電気化学過程(過程1)と化学過程(過程2,3)の反応速度比の影響を調べるために、種々の充放電レートにおける充放電試験を実施した。フルセルを用いた充放電試験の結果、極めて低レートで充放電を行った際に電極寿命が極端に短くなることが明らかとなった。構築したその場測定や解体試験(X線CT、走査電子顕微鏡測定)の結果、放電時の亜鉛溶解反応(過程1)が、電解液中の亜鉛酸イオンの輸送(過程2)に対して相対的に遅くなることで、電極近傍での亜鉛酸イオンの過飽和度が下がり、酸化亜鉛の析出反応 (過程3)が抑制され、電極内の活物質が枯渇して劣化につながることが明らかとなった。
    本成果は2021年10月に開催された第11回CSJ化学フェスタで研究協力者の修士課程学生が発表し、優秀ポスター発表賞を受賞した。
