    <jats:p>This study introduces a practical method for evaluating structural damage based on a large-scale simulation targeting expansive areas, like whole cities. In such a seismic simulation that deals with numerous building structures, it is desirable to estimate the damage based on a stochastic evaluation considering the uncertainty of structural properties. This is because an accurate modeling of numerous building structures, according to each designed value, would require a great deal of time. However, a damage evaluation considering the model uncertainty generally involves numerous calculations and is inadequate for such a large-scale simulation. Therefore, we propose a method using the point estimate technique which can estimate the probability of damage under model uncertainty from a small number of calculations. The applicability and usefulness of the proposed method is evaluated by comparing it to the method based on a Monte Carlo simulation.</jats:p>

    The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake brought severe damage caused not only by the tsunami but also by the ground motions. The present manuscript summarizes the source mechanism/process and the characteristics of ground motions around eastern Japan during the earthquake. For the last two years after the earthquake, many researchers have devoted their efforts to analyzing and discussing the source and ground motions. New findings from some recent works are also cited. We, furthermore, introduce characteristics of ground motions at some typical damaged sites, where no records of ground motions were obtained during the main shock, using time histories of after shocks.

    We have developed a method to predict site amplifications using only three parameters: peak accelerations and peak velocity on surface of bedrock, and natural period of subsurface ground. The proposed method can provide two major advantages as compared with conventional methods. First, the site amplification can be estimated more accurately than ones obtained through conventional methods, considering not only natural period of subsurface ground but also predominant period of input motions into engineering basement. Second, we can apply the method to various levels of input motions. We, furthermore, confirmed well-functioning formulation for the proposed method through discussion of analyses of seismic records.

    We discussed stochastic properties of the spatial auto-correlation(SPAC) coefficients for microtremor data which are observed simultaneously at two sites. Usually, the SPAC method can provide the phase velocities using the data observed simultaneously on circular array with four or seven sites. The method, however, suggests analytically the possibility that we can estimate the phase velocities using only the data observed simultaneously at two sites. To clarify the limitation of this idea, some mathematical analyses are performed and stochastic properties of the SPAC coefficients are derived. Furthermore, some real data of microtremors are applied to the above analytical results and the validity is discussed.

    Many projects of the education for the earthquake disaster prevention have been carried out considering the experiences obtained through the 1995 Hyogoken Nanbu earthquake. However, such projects were not enough to educate the people over eighteen years old, because of their less motivation, for example. We, thus, developed web-based instructional materials as a tool to improve their comprehension of the earthquake disaster. The materials are designed for any people to study the topics about the earthquake and disaster for themselves. For the design of the materials, we paid attention to some points: they can study anytime and anywhere on the web and confirm their understanding through the review exercises. It is expected that the effective learning is advanced by these points. Some subjects tried to use the materials and their comprehension were evaluated by some exercises. From this, we verified quantitatively the effect of learning by means of the materials.

    The objective of this documents is to introduce the research projects for the 21st Century COE Program, which was called "Evolutino of Urban Earthquake Engineering," and the Global COE Program "International Urban Earthquake Engineering Center for Mitigating Seismic Mega Risk." The authors, however, cannot figure whole picture of the projects, thus, focuses on some specific topics which are related to the simulation and gaming and they have commited through the projects. For this, the authors try to discuss an approach for different kinds of researches, which must be "modeling, verification, and application," through the viewpoints of simulation and gaming.

    In seismic design for railway structures, it is essential to evaluate the effects of the subsurface structure appropriately. In order to estimate the ground structure, the boring investigation is mainly used. The boring investigation, however, may be difficult in case of certain circumstances, such as the soft ground condition, the deep engineering bedrock, the space condition for investigation and so on. In such cases, it is necessary to estimate the ground structure using other estimation methods. In this report, the authors presented another estimation method using microtremor and gravity survey. Moreover, we clarified the importance of structure estimation by calculating the ground motions based on the estimated subsurface structure.

    It is important to understand the detailed 3-D subsurface structure to estimate the strong ground motions. For this purpose, we will confirm the usability of the gravity survey and propose a process from modeling the ground structure to estimate of the strong ground motions.<br>The gravity survey has been carried out to estimate the 3-D subsurface structure around the damaged area due to the 1909 Anegawa earthquake. Steep slopes of the bedrock are located around the severely damaged area. On the basis of the estimated 3-D subsurface structure, the strong motions are numerically simulated by using the finite-difference method (FDM). From the results of the simulations, it is shown that the peak ground velocity correspond to the collapse ratio of the wooden structures except for some cases.

    A long-term dense monitoring system of seismically isolated tall building in Tokyo Institute of Technology is introduced. Recently, the number of monitoring reports of seismically isolated building is gradually increasing. In this monitoring system, the acceleration at the ground surface, 1st, 2nd, 7th, 14th, and 20th floor is recorded in detail, as well as the story drift and acceleration at the floor where the base isolators are located. Using the data, it is expected that the propriety of the current seismic design be verified.

    We present a simple method to estimate the horizontal incident direction of earthquake ground motion, which gives most severe response of a curved girder bridges: we call it &ldquo;critical direction.&rdquo; To find the critical direction, most of designers have to calculate dynamic responses of a structure for incident waves from various azimuth. Thus, the many resources are required for calculation. To diminish such the difficulty in numerical calculation, we improve a method proposed by Okano. He has developed a method to estimate the principal axis of the ground using coherence functions among the observed time traces of earthquake ground motion. It is concluded that the proposed method can reduce the cost for numerical calculation without a lack of accuracy.

    In this paper, we proposed a method for stochastic interpolation of bedrock ground motion amplitudes conditioned by ground motions at the free surface and/or soil amplification ratios actually observed with a priori information about these properties. The optimal estimate and estimated error variance were derived with respect to various conditions for conditional lognormal fields on the basis of conditional probability density functions for the amplification ratio and ground motion amplitude. Numerical examples were provided for various number of the conditioning sample data and various cases of cross correlation between the amplification ratio and recorded amplitude. The estimated properties were found to be successfully interpolated from the stochastic point of view.x

    The observations of microtremors were carried out at 75 sites in northern area of Nishinomiya, Japan. Using frequency-wave number spectral analysis, the phase velocities and directions of wave propagation were detected from the observed data. Subsarface structures are is estimated by means of an inversion analysis of phase velocities. The deep ground structure around the Koyo Fault is surveyed from the results.

    既に実用化,製品化されている水晶振動子を用いたジャイロを恒温槽に入れて温度管理を可能とする装置を開発するために,温度が年間を通じてほぼ一定であるトンネル内にセンサーを設置し,温度変化に対するセンサー出力の感度特性について検討した。水晶振動子を用いた加速度計にたいする既往の実験結果と同様に,長期間にわたってセンサー出力を記録する場合,センサーへの通電にともなってセンサーの内部温度が変化し,出力が大きくドリフトすることが確認された。しかし,ある程度の時間,通電を行うと温度が安定し,ドリフト量も小さく抑えられることもわかった。
    そこで,恒温槽を作成する前段階としてトンネル内でジャイロ本体を一定速度で回転させ,温度ドリフトの影響があるかどうかについて検討をした。すなわち,ジャイロ本体を回転させて一周させるために要する時間が温度ドリフトの時間変動に比べて十分に短ければ恒温槽を製作することなく精度よく真北を同定できる可能性の有無を調べようとするものである。ところが,これを明らかにするためには,ジャイロ本体の回転の角速度をどの程度に設定すべきかを明確にせねばならないことになる。真北を同定するためにジャイロ本体を回転させる場合,一般には,ジャイロから連続的にデータを出力し,動的にパラメータを同定していくことが望ましい。
    第一年度には既存の回転テーブルやコントローラなどを用いてジャイロ本体を回転させるためのテーブルを作成するとともに,ジャイロの出力をノートPCに記録できるような簡易的なデータのログシステムを製作した。パラメータを同定するために行うジャイロ本体の回転の角速度を種々の値に変更してジャイロの出力を記録した。その結果,トンネル内の温度はほぼ一定であるため,ジャイロへの通電後,十分な時間が経過した後であれば,回転中の温度変化はほぼ無視できることがわかった。

    第二年度までに「観測および記録処理の高精度化・高効率化」および「地盤ー構造物系の動特性のモデルの統合」を中心に実施した。後者については地盤と構造物の連成系をモデル化することが最終目標であるが,第二年度では,地盤と構造物それぞれについてのモデルの高度化を行った。第三年度であるR3年度は地盤ー構造物系の統合にあたって,個別にモデル化を検討してきた地盤と構造物の連成系について,両者のモデル化において有効な手法であることが明らかとなったFDD(Frequency Domain Decomposition)法の適用性の検討に着手した。その検討を通して地表および構造物上に設置された微動記録に対してFDD法が適用可能であることが明らかとなった。すなわち,構造様式の変化に伴い構造物の動的応答特性の変化を正しく追跡できること,特定の条件のもとでは地盤の振動モードが卓越しそれをFDD法により正しく同定できることを示した。
    また,「観測網のスパース化」にあたって少ない数のパラメータから構造物の動特性を表すには事前に大量の理論計算を実施し,入出力関係のデータベースを作成しておき,そのなかから観測値を最もよく説明するモデルを選択することによって,適切なモデルを得るという手法が有効であることが明らかとなった。これによりスパースな観測網から得られた観測記録を用いて現象を説明しうるモデルの同定の実現可能性が示唆された。

    In the area close to surface faults, there were some cases where the damage caused by the earthquake ground motion was smaller than that in the surrounding area. In order to investigate the issue, we have studied both the dynamic fault rupture model with surface fault and the effect of fault rupture zone on seismic motion.
    It was confirmed that the kinematic hypothesis derived from previous earthquakes based on the presence or absence of surface faults can be dynamically reproduced. It was also shown that the shallow slip velocity might be reduced by giving the surface effect and the depth dependent stress drop to the ideal earthquake models with a hierarchical fault structure. In addition, geophysical exploration around surface faults and sampling in the fault rupture zone suggested that the shuttered material in fault rupture zone might reduce strong ground motion.
    It was shown that the interaction of the effects may reduce the earthquake damage in the area close to the surface fault.

    研究項目1:揺れから揺れの予測法への広帯域地震波動伝播法則の導入
    ① 広帯域で適用可能なデータ同化手法の検討: 震度の予測を目的とした「揺れからの揺れの予測」では、データ同化手法が有効に機能した。これに②で得られる伝達関数との融合を図った。
    ② 広帯域地震動の伝達関数の検討: ①で得られる実況値から、伝達関数を掛ければ予測が可能となる。そこで、①のデータ同化手法との融合、また、研究項目2から得られる地盤増幅特性フィルターとの組み合わせをことを試みた。
    研究項目2:地盤増幅特性フィルターへの時間遅れの導入
    ③ 周波数ごとの時間遅れの推定: ④から得られる設計手法に従い、各地点での増幅率と時間遅れを時間軸上でのフィルターで表現することを進めた。
    ④ 時間遅れをフィルターに導入する手法の検討: 有限個のハイパス、ローパスフィルターの組み合わせを用いて、広帯域での時間遅れを含んだ形での増幅特性をフィルターで再現することを行った。これらを論文で執筆することを進めている。

    Using ultra-high-density observation records of gravity, microtremors, and earthquake ground motions, we conducted a basic study for advanced use of observation records. Furthermore, we developed observation and data processing techniques to improve the efficiency and to reduce the cost of time and personals. We introduced physics of dynamic phenomena into stochastic modeling to represent ground motions, dynamic characteristics, and damage estimators, etc., which have been treated based on just statistics. The proposed methods were confirmed and verified through actual observation records.

    An accelerometer has been developed using crystal oscillator and it has very high sensitivity and accuracy in principle. This means that we can observe vibration, inclination, and gravity using only one sensor. However, the output data of acceleration is contaminated by fluctuation of temperature. We developed an algorithm to correct the affect by temperature and applied it to gravity data which was obtained in a real field. The corrected data can be applicable for basic gravity survey and the results suggested that more accuracy can be realized through a DOCX (double oven crystal oscillator) type system.

    In this study, a new technique for estimating subsurface structure by gravity vectors (gx, gy, gz) was developed and applied to actual data in central Kyushu. The shape of each sedimentary basin was estimated clearly by this technique. In addition, estimation technique of fault dip using gravity gradient tensor was studied. Wall dip of caldera walls, the dip of tectonic lines distributed in the central Kyushu and the source fault dip of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake were estimated by the method. Results obtained by this technique were harmony with real subsurface structures observed by other techniques and surveys.

    The object of this study is to develop a practical local-damage-detection method of building structures, which is based on ambient vibration measurement. From the analysis of vibrational characteristics based on high-density array measurements for severely deteriorated buildings through the Frequency domain decomposition (FDD) technique, and the numerical study using the multi-dimensional flame model, the followings were revealed; 1) If the local stiffness of building structures extremely changes, the location of it can be identified using identified modal properties, that is, natural frequency and eigenmode. 2) If the local stiffness of building structures slightly changes, to detect its local damage is quite a task and then such an auto-power spectral density can be practical indicator. Furthermore, a new modal identification method which uses only two measurement points was analytically developed.

    The ocean bottom seismometers deployed above the source region of the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake were recovered and precise aftershock distribution was obtained. The seafloor observations were continued to clear variation of the aftershock activity. The crustal movement after the mainshock was estimated by using seafloor geodetic observations. Seismic reflection surveys revealed seismic structures above the source region. Field surveys for tsunami were carried and slip distribution on the source fault was obtained. Damage of constructions was clarified by filed surveys and widespread survey was also carried out from a view of disaster prevention of urban areas.

    The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake occurred offshore of northeast Japan region on March 11, 2011, and large ground motion with long duration and huge tsunami damaged human society. To clarify the generation mechanism of this large earthquake, we carried out various observations. Seismic observations in marine and land areas revealed variation of seismic activities in time and space. Geometry of the source was estimated by seismic surveys and ocean bottom crustal movement measurements. In addition, the slip distribution during the mainshock was obtained using various geophysical datasets. Field surveys revealed tsunamis and the generation process of the tsunamis was estimated. Damage of constructions was also clarified and useful information for disaster mitigation in future was obtained.

    To conduct seismic hazard analyses in Nail delta area we need the information of ground structure and amplification effect of seismic motion in the area. However earthquake observations and detail ground explorations have not been conducted in Nail delta. The information to be used for determining fault rupture parameters of a future earthquake has not also been corrected although the seismic activities and crust structure and its movement as well as gravity anomaly in the area surrounding Cairo city has surveyed form the beginning of 1950
    The purpose of this study is to collect data of historical and recent seismic activities surrounding Cairo city for estimating fault mechanisms of earthquakes which caused sever damage to infrastructures in Cairo city. Based on these data we proposed future earthquake scenarios for simulating proper seismic design earthquake motions. The soil exploration data were also collected.
    Using collected data earthquake motions of a future event are synthesized by superposing stochastic small earthquake motion. To developed a method for synthesize stochastic small earthquake motions using the AR-MA process we collected observed small earthquake motions at several places in Cairo city. The effect of strike, dip angle of the fault and a starting point of rupture on an attenuation of peak acceleration was investigated. The attenuation characteristic of peak accelerations obtained from simulated earthquake motions were studied in order to investigate the relation between peak accelerations and positions of the fault to the observation points. The peak acceleration at the region near the fault was much influenced by the difference of the starting point of rupture as well as the magnitude and the epicenter distance.

    これまでに開発したディジタル信号処理のためのアルゴリズムを検証するために,組み込み型のマイクロコンピュータ上でアルゴリズムの演算処理を実施し,実際にセンサーを接続して,その性能評価を実施した。可能な限りセンサーの機械的な精度を高め得るようセンサーとしては最も単純な動コイル型を用いることを前提としたアルゴリズムを構築しているため,この検証においても動コイル型の地震計を用いた。センサーの設置状態の自己診断では,振り子の固有周期と減衰定数を検出する必要がある。そのために,観測時の回路とは別に,センサーのキャリブレーション用のアナログ回路を付加し,観測精度に影響を与えることなくセンサーの特性を診断できるようにした。この回路は,センサーに対して強制的に電流を流して振り子のインパルス応答を出力させ,その出力波形を用いて簡単な逆解析手法を適用することで,振り子の固有周期と減衰定数を同定するものである。しかし,回路のアナログノイズなどのS/N比の影響や,スイッチの切り替え時間の遅れなどが理論とのずれの原因となっており精確な定数の同定の障害となっていることが明らかとなった。そこで,これらの影響を考慮したアルゴリズムとして,インパルス応答の同定に時間遅れの項を導入し,固有同期及び減衰定数の固定精度を高めることに成功した。また,上記の回路,アルゴリズムによって得られた地震計のパラメータを用いて自動的に観測記録の計器補正を行うアルゴリズムについて検討を行ったが,本研究で用いた組み込み用汎用マイクロコンピュータ(日立製H8)はこのような用途には非力で十分なパフォーマンスを得ることができなかった。これはアルゴリズムそのものの問題である可能性もあり,今後の改良の余地が十二分にあるものの,本年は本研究の最終年度にあたるため,所期の目標である計器補正の部分については,観測終了後の後処理で対応した。

    本研究は,新しい非定常時系列シミュレーション法を開発することを目的として,まず,地震動の位相特性の合理的なモデル化手法を確立し,つぎに,モデル化された非定常位相特性の情報を用いて非定常時系列のシミュレーションを可能する方法論を開発する.このために,ウエイブレット変換を用いて地震動位相の時間・周波数特性を抽出し,それを確率微分方程式の概念を用いてモデル化する.具体的には,位相の周波数に関する微係数として定義される群遅延時間の時間・周波数特性を模擬するための確率微分方程式を導出し,その構成係数を既存の地震動記録のデータセットを用いて,断層破壊過程のパラメータと断層から観測点までの距離の関数として表現する.つぎに,モデル化された群遅延時間を用いて地震動のシミュレーションを可能にするアルゴリズムを開発する.このために,因果性時系列の実数部と虚数部の間に成り立つヒルバート変換の関係を利用して群遅延時間から非定常時系列のフーリエ振幅特性を決定するための理論を展開する.
    以上の目的を達成するために,本年度に行なった研究の成果をまとめると以下の様である.まず,離散周波数間隔の影響を受けないサンプル群遅延時間をシミュレートするための方法論を確立するために,群遅延時間の周波数軸上での相関性の表現法に関する研究を行なった.さらに,サンプル群遅延時間から直接非定常時系列をシミュレートするための方法論を確立した.1999年台湾集集地震の観測記録を用いて,開発された方法論の有効性を確認した.地震動の非定常群遅延時間の空間相関特性をモデル化することによって,多点で観測された地震動観測記録を用いて,未観測点での地震動波形推定するための方法論を開発した.開発した方法論を基にして,非定常時系列のシミュレーションの新しい体系を確立した.非定常時系列が入力する時の非線形構造システムの応答予測法に関する研究を行った.

    前年度までにおこなってきたテストフィールドにおける地震観測を継続して行い,今後の解析での利用も考慮して,得られたデータのデータベース化を行った。前年度までに,短周期領域で利用可能な地盤構造推定のための移動を伴わない「省力化アレー観測法」を開発したが,今年度は,やや長周期領域での適用可能性について検討した。その結果,脈動領域の微動であっても伝播方向の非定常性がある程度認められることがわかり,その事を利用して比較的長時間の観測をする事で2〜3秒程度の周期帯までは,移動を伴わない「省力化アレー観測法」が利用可能であることを確認した。また,地盤構造の推定精度を高めるために第一年度におこなった重力探査と昨年度までに行ってきた微動探査法を併合処理するアルゴリズムを開発し,これにより,密度構造および速度構造を同時に満足する,より物理的に適切な地盤構造モデルを推定可能であることを数値実験と実データから確認した。
    一方,観測記録を用いることで波動場を合理的に内挿する手法についても検討を行った。観測によって得られた実際のスペクトルをもとにして非定常な波動場を推定するためのアルゴリズムを開発し,数値実験を通して確認した。場の不確定性を評価する方法について,スペクトル有限要素法の考え方を差分法に適用する事で,簡単なモデルの場合は適当なスペクトルをもとにある程度までは計算可能である事を確認したが,計算誤差の蓄積などの問題が大きく必ずしも十分な精度での計算結果を得るには至らなかった。この問題については,今後も検討が必要であると考えている。

    The 1996 Lijiang Earthquake of M7.0 brought serious damage to the Lijiang basin. Although its seismogenic fault is considered to be the Xueshan fault lying along the western edge of the basin, the most severely damaged zone was located 1.5-2 km far from the basin edge, and there was a remarkable change in degree of damage near along the Lijiang-Jianchuan fault zone, which crosses the basin in the southern part. As an issue of microzoning, gravity survey and geologic study were conducted to reveal the bedrock structure associated active faults. 3D gravity basement was modeled for Lijiang basin, adjacent Lashi basin, and Heqing basin ranging south. The depth to bedrock reaches more than 2km for each basin. Satelite images were analyzed to map active faults which were checked in the field. GPS observation was carried out to monitor the crustal movement associated the faults. The basins structure and its genesis were discussed on the basis of pull-apart structure controlled by the regional tectonics in northern Yunnan. The anomalous distribution of damage should be attributed to the fault-related bedrock configuration with steep relief (basin-edge effect and/or focusing effect), and to the geological condition of fault zone in the sediments.

    The objectives of this research are, 1) to develop a numerical method for analyze the effects of scattered wave occurred in the random media of bedrock and soil layers, and 2) to develop a estimation method for seismic design considering phase characteristics on scattered wave. The results of the research are summarized as follows;
    (1) A new numerical method is developed to analyze anisotropic scattering on the path based on the ray theory. The energy distribution obtained by the method is consistent with that by the conventional energy particle, method. The variance of the group delay time is found to be proportional to the squared hypocentral distance.
    (2) A new numerical method is developed to analyze the ground response considering the scattered wave in the random media based on R/T matrices method. The results of the method show that the effect of scattered wave occurred from the randomness of the media is smaller than that form the randomness of the boundary between soil layers.
    (3) A new numerical method to analyze the characteristics of wave propagation in a random media based on the spectral stochastic finite element method. The advantage of the method is to give the distribution shape as well. as the mean and variance value. The results of the method is consistent with that of Monte Carlo method. The computation time for the method is much smaller than that for the Monte Carlo method.
    (4) The characteristics of the response against the non-stationary ground motion defined by group delay time are examined. The result show the possibility to estimate the distribution of response value of SDOF system if the amplitude Fourier spectrum have a constant value.

    平成14年度は「省力化アレー観測法」の適用範囲について,前年度で得られたデータセットを用いて,より詳細な検討を行った。特に,「省力化」を実現するにあたって導入することになる幾つかの仮定を,実記録が本当に満足しているかどうかを確認した。
    ・固定観測点における微動の3成分連続観測をおこない,それらのスペクトル形状の時間的な変化が,波動場の定常性とある程度は相関性があることがわかった。従って,固定観測点で3成分の連続観測を行うことで,微動の定常性をある程度予測でき,「省力化アレー観測法」が適用可能かどうか判断できる。
    ・微動の3成分観測を行い,その水平動/上下動スペクトル比(H/V)をとると,そのピークを与える周期T_0がおおよそ,基盤岩までの深さの変化に対応する。従って,移動観測点においても3成分観測をおこない,各地点のH/Vを調べることで,アレー範囲内の基盤が水平であるかどうかの大まかな予測は可能である。これにより,水平成層構造を仮定した解析が可能かどうか,判断可能となる。
    ・Love波は構造の変化に非常に敏感であるため,Rayleigh波の位相速度とLove波の位相速度の両方を満足する構造を推定できるような理想的な環境は必ずしも多くないことがわかった。しかし,そのような理想的な環境では速度構造を決定する際の任意性を少なくすることができるため,速度構造の決定にLove波を援用することは有用である。
    最後に,本研究で開発した「省力化アレー観測法」を地盤構造が未知の地域へ適用し,その有効性を他の物理探査手法による解析結果と比較検討し,本手法の精度と利便性を確認した。

  • Survey of Geological Structure at Adapazari, The Concentrated Damage Area During 1999 Kocaeli, Turkey, Earthquake

    The bedrock structure of the basin of Adapazari was studied on the basis of Bouguer gravity anomaly, SPAC and H/V analyses of microseisms, and seismic refraction survey. The main results are as follows :
    (1)the bedrock subsides stepwise at the edge of depressions ;
    (2)the basin consists of three narrow depressions of the basement of E-W or NE-SW trending. The depth to bedrock reaches 1000-1500 m ;
    (3)3D model of deep ground structure of Adapazari basin based on the results of gravity survey, SPAC and H/V analyses of microseisms, and seismic refraction surveys ;
    (4)simulation of Kocaeli earthquake was performed using Finite Difference method based on the 3D model. The results show that strong motions, which brought severe damage to the town, is considered to have been produced by amplification due to the specific configuration of bedrock, that is, focusing and/or so-called basin-edge effect.
    It is pointed out that investigation of 3D bedrock configuration is an urgent issue for microzoning an urban area on a sedimentary basin, and for this, comparative analysis of gravity, microseisms and efraction wave is highly prospective, because we can obtain more reliable structural models using different kinds of physical parameters: seismic impedance and density distribution.
    The surveys of shallow soil profile at the down town was also performed. The results are as follows ;
    (1)any soil layer of loose sand was not found. This fact shows that typical liquefaction was not considered to occur during the mainshock ;
    (2)thickness of very soft soil layers, at which probe of Swedish sounding sink by its own weight, varies in the town. It is considered to affect the difference of damage of building between inertia type damage and settlement type damage.

    The objective of this research was develop a new liquefaction judgment criteria in consideration of characteristics of input earthquake motion in frequency domain. For this objective, site investigations in actual earthquake-induced liquefaction during 2000 Western Tottori earthquake and 2001 Geiyo earthquake, case studies of actual liquefaction and ground motion records influenced by that, modeling frequency characteristics of earthquake input motion, studies of dominant frequency in liquefaction occurrence by numerical analyses, and experimental studies on influence on liquefaction characteristics by additional frequency components through a newly manufactured hollow torsional shear apparatus were carried out. Research results are summarized as follows : Components of natural frequency of surface ground dominate in shear strain of ground amplified by nonlinear behavior including liquefaction. Additional high frequency components promote pore pressure generation and shear strain after initial liquefaction. Such promoting effects can be estimated by traditional cumulative damage theory.

    The object of this research is to develop a suitable method to elucidate 3D basement structure of a sedimentary basin with thick soil deposits, using observational data of microseisms and gravity anomaly, aiming at microzonation of urban area for prevention and mitigation of earthquake disaster. Basic idea for studying the configuration of bedrock is (1) estimation of velocity structure from the dispersion of Rayleigh waves with array observation of microseisms, and (2) estimation of depth to bedrock at various sites with horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio (H/V) analysis. In the basin, array observations are made at several sites, and the resultant velocity structures are interpolated for 3D model using H/V data at many sites in the basin. For array analysis, we have developed a simple technique using only 2 set of seismometers, 2sSPAC method. Bouguer gravity anomaly provides distribution of densities. Thus, we can discuss the structure model with different physical parameters, namely, seismic impedance and density, and can obtain physically reliable structural model. In this research project, we studied various structural basin which had been seriously damaged by earthquakes: Kyoto basin, Ohmi basin, Hiroshima Plain, Yumigahama Peninsula, Tottori Plain, Nara basin, Lijiang basin in Yunnan, China, and Adapazari, Turkey. As a result, it is pointed out that, concentration of severe damage took place in the region where the configuration of bedrock is steep. This is true for all the basins analyzed but Nara basin, because there is no information on damage distribution in Nara basin. In conclusion, our method is considered useful for microzoning sedimentary basin.

    The 1995 Kobe earthquake is one of the worst disasters in recent Japan history, because of not only total number of casualties but also the fact that the earthquake struck a highly urbanized area in which many buildings, housings and infrastructures were concentrating. The cause of damage to the structures is generally explained by the action of large horizontal ground motion. But all unusual phenomena observed for bridge piers, steel frames, foundation structures, various rigid bodies and so on have not been made clear. Discussion from the view point of vertical ground motion which is applied as an impulsive load is not still sufficient. It is a fact, however, that the seismographs did not catch such impulsive accelerations of vertical component. In this paper, damage to structures due to the strong ground motion is surveyed first and the relation between damage and input ground motion is investigated in order to find the existence and the effect of the impulsive wave. Two accelerographs of a servo type and a transducer type are compared to check the sensitivity of high frequency component. FEM analysis by using a fault rupture model is carried out and the effect of nonlinear elements on the vertical ground motion is studied.
    Main results obtained here is as follows :
    (1) The existence of impulsive strong force can not denied according to many unusual phenomena observed in the 1955 Kobe earthquake.
    (2) The amplitude of the up-down component of the earthquake becomes larger when the critical displacement of the fault is small and nonlinearity of the surrounding soil of the fault is considered.
    (3) When the high frequency more than 20-50 Hz exists in the record, the servo-type accelerograph can not detect such component.
    (4) The high frequency components have not observed in our observation site yet.

    ・微動の波動場が空間的・時間的に定常であるか。
    ・アレーを設置した領域が水平成層構造であるか。
    という点である。
    これらについて,一つ目の項目については,1秒程度以上の長周期領域にあっては,ほぼこの条件を満足しているものの,短周期領域では,波源が人工的な震動源であるために,必ずしも時間的な定常性を長時間維持することはまれで,「省力化アレー観測法」によった場合,予想できない誤差が混入する可能性のなることが明らかとなった。また,二つ目の項目については,観測時に3成分を同時に観測し,その水平動/上下動スペクトル比をとり,そのピーク周期の違いをみることである程度予測可能であることがわかった。これにより,対象地域が理論的な仮定が適用可能な場であるかどうかを知ることができる。
    最後に,本研究で開発した「省力化アレー観測法」を地盤構造が未知である,トルコ・アダパザル地域へ適用し,本手法の利便性を確認した。

    According to the recent improvements in earthquake measuring system, computer technology, information network system, methods of computer analysis, etc., "real-time control system during seismic disaster" which operates ongoing data to mitigate earthquake damage, has become realistic as a new method of disaster mitigation. To reduce earthquake damage, proper pre-, ongoing, post-earthquake countermeasures are indispensable. Conventionally, data from the earthquake were used for the mitigation of the damage due to the next earthquake. Disaster information just after the earthquake, however, is very important to reduce the damage.
    After the 1995 Kobe Earthquake, various national and municipal organization in Japan began to develop or strengthen real (or semi-real) time earthquake disaster information system. However, basic databases and methodologies used in such systems still need to be upgraded. Information sharing system between organizations in case of disaster has not been established yet.
    This research project aims to develop a information sharing system for civil engineering structures by compiling the concerned element technologies and making best use of GIS and Internet. The outcomes of the research project are as follows ;
    (1) In order to estimate the spatial distribution of ground motion just after an earthquake to provide useful and basic information for real time disaster control, a simple method to determine the deep layered soil model is developed.
    (2) An immediate detection system for damage to lifeline is proposed.
    (3) A method of sequential data processing of seismic damage information is presented for rapid and appropriate decision making in post-earthquake emergency management.
    (4) In order to grasp the damage immediately after an earthquake, a real-time damage estimation system and control system is proposed by using Internet.

    耐震設計に用いられる入力地震動評価のために,応答スペクトル予測式が数多く開発されてきたが,これは震源近傍には適用できない.一方,地震学の分野で震源近傍にも適用できる強震動予測手法が数多く開発されているが,これらは時刻歴波形やフーリエスペクトルを予測するもので,現在の耐震設計の枠組みの中に直接組み入れることが難しい.本研究では,断層の広がり,震源放射特性,震源指向性,伝播経路における減衰の周波数依存性,経験的に求めたサイトを考慮して,震源近傍の地震動の振幅フーリエスペクトルと,位相特性を表わす群遅延時間スペクトルを予測する手法を開発する.さらに,地震動の位相特性を考慮してフーリエスペクトルを応答スペクトルに変換する手法を開発することによって,震源近傍の応答スペクトルを予測することが最終目標である.
    以下に本研究で得られた成果を列挙する.
    (1) 速度サーボ型地震計記録を用いてインバージョン解析を行い伝播経路・サイト特性を分離し,伝播経路およびサイトの群遅延時間スペクトルを経験的に評価した.
    (2) 伝播経路特性について,波線理論とエネルギー理論を組み合わせた方法で解析し,異方散乱特性と内部減衰を考慮することにより,(1)で得られた特性を表現できることを示した.
    (3) 地点特性における散乱波の影響を調べるために,反射・透過係数法とPhase Screen methodを組み合わせることにより,境界の不規則性による影響と,地盤材料の不均質性による影響を調べた.

    The earthquake damages of the lifeline such as buried pipelines are caused mainly by deformation of ground that is accompanied with liquefaction or landslides. It is important that the deformation of ground can be measured to estimate total damage of lifeline system at the early stage of restoration. But the sensors of ground displacement or liquefaction are not arranged in this time.
    Recently many servo-type velocity seismographs are arranged. As the frequency range of a servo-type seismographs is very wide, from 0.02Hz to 70Hz, the seismographs may measure the permanent displacement of the ground from the component of the low frequency range.
    The purpose of this study is to develop new method to estimate permanent displacement of the ground in the effective precision using servo-type seismographs
    At first the response of the seismographs is simulated against the ground motion which include permanent displacement. As the result it is understood that the permanent displacement can be estimated if the seismic signal in the long period component can be removed from the record. But the influence of declination of the instruments is found to be considerably large.
    The method for estimating long period signals is developed using phase characteristics in short period range of the record. Group delay time is adopted to represent phase characteristics of seismic motions. We proposed the stocastic impulse train model for representing source process. It is concluded that the long period signals can be estimated to some extent from the phase characteristics of a short period component of earthquake motion.

    本研究の成果は,フーリエ振幅スペクトルを基にして,位相情報を加味することにより絶対加速度応答スペクトルを推定する手法を開発したことである。これまで,地震学の分野では,地震動の特性についてはフーリエ振幅スペクトルを用いて議論されることが多かったため,本研究において提案された手法を用いることにより,地震学の最先端の研究成果を設計のの分野で重要な応答スペクトルに直ちに反映させることが可能となる。以下にその成果を列挙する。
    1.応答スペクトルの推定に重安な役割を果たす位相情報として,群遅延時間スペクトルを平均及び分散を振動数の関数として導入した。これは,地震波のフーリエ位相スペクトルの微係数として定義されるが,その特性はもとの時系列波形の調和成分毎の非定常性を示すものである。
    2.上の群遅延時間スペクトルを用いて,地震波の包絡線関数を推定した。
    3.得られた包絡線関数を用いて,もとの時系列波形が振幅変調型の正規確率過程であるという仮定のもとで,一質点系の最大応答を極値分布理論に基づき確率論的に推定した。
    4.種々の振動数を有する調和成分について上記の最大応答を推定することにより,応答スペクトルの推定結果を得た。また,本手法では,確率論的に推定をおこなっているため,推定結果の標準偏差を与えることができ,推定結果の信頼性を定量的に示すことができる。
    5.実務の観測記録に対して,本手法を適用し,フーリエ振幅スペクトルと平均及び分散群遅延時間スペクトルを用いて絶対加速度応答スペクトルを推定し,振幅が著しく大きい場合や,震源が非常に近い場合を除くと非常に精度良く推定可能であることを確かめた。

    耐震設計に用いられる入力地震動評価のために,応答スペクトル予測式が数多く開発されてきたが,これは震源近傍には適用できない.一方,地震学の分野で震源近傍にも適用できる強振動予測手法が数多く開発されているが,これらは時刻歴波形やフーリエスペクトルを予測するもので,現在の耐震設計の枠組みの中に直接組み入れることが難しい.
    本研究では,断層の広がり,震源放射特性,震源指向性,伝播経路における減衰の周波数依存性,経験的に求めたサイトを考慮して,震源近傍の地震動の振幅フーリエスペクトルと,位相特性を表わす群遅延時間スペクトルを予測する手法を開発する.さらに,地震動の位相特性を考慮してフーリエスペクトルを応答スペクトルに変換する手法を開発することによって,震源近傍の応答スペクトルを予測する.
    以下に本研究で得られた成果を列挙する.
    (1)速度サーボ型地震計記録を用いてインバージョン解析を行い伝播経路・サイト特性を分離し,
    伝播経路およびサイトの群遅延時間スペクトルを経験的に評価した.その結果,伝播経路特性については振幅から求められる1/Q値のスペクトルと,サイト特性については振幅のスペクトル増幅率と同様のスペクトル特性を持つことが確認された.
    (2)震源指向性を簡易にスペクトル予測式に取り入れる方法を開発した.震源のインパルス列の尖り度および歪み度を用いて群遅延時間スペクトルがモデル化できることを示した.
    (3)平滑化されたフーリエ振幅スペクトルと群遅延時間スペクトルから,応答スペクトルに変換する手法を開発した.

  • A Study on the Interaction between Ground and Lining around the Tunnel Face

    (1) The interaction between the ground and the tunnel support is essential for the stability of the tunnel.
    (2) The subgrade reaction makes the bending moment of the tunnel lining arch small.
    (3) Even the thinner lining is able to supprt the surrounding ground if no buckling occurs.
    (4) The thicker lining is more likely to show the bending failure due to the bending moment.
    (5) Even if the concrete lining breaks due to the bending moment, the whole structure of lining can keep stability as long as the ground reaction is expected to some extent.
    These results were extracted by assuming a simple mechanical model of tunnelling without any consideration of the construction process. It is required to refine the above statements from the view points of more practical methods as well as the laboratory testing.

    (1) The earth pressure distribution around the trap door can be numerically simulated for both of sandy and clayy grounds.
    (2) In particular, the earth pressure in the case of clayy ground is obtained with a high accuracy.
    (3) It is clarified that the effect of the dilatancy is important and that the selection of thye flow rule should be made carefully.
    (4) An experiment as well as the numerical simulation was performed for the composite ground of clay and sand but any clear effect of the double layr ground was not observed due to the high stiffness of clay.
    (5) From the result of the numerical simulation, it was found that almost no loothed earth pressure was observed when the soft clay layr is deposited under the sand layr.
    (6) The Terzaghi's formula can not predict clearly the earth pressure for the composite layr.

    First, we analytically develop the basic theory for conditional random fields which are represented as multi-variate stochastic processes. On this basis, this theory is applied to engineering fields, namely, methods of digital simulation and first passage solutions are discussed for conditional random fields. The significance of the method developed herein is demonstrated in various manners both from theoretical aspects and from the observation of numerical results. Furthermore, we propose methods to estimate spectra with uncertainties by means of the observed time series and develop the theoretical framework regarding the conditional random fields with stochastic spectra. Finally, to apply the results toward engineering applications, the theory and techniques of conditional simulation are applied to earthquake ground motion fields.
