    In steel structures, skew thin steel plates serve as panel zones in structures spanning large spaces (e.g., warehouses and gymnasiums). Considerable research has been conducted on the shear buckling of panels due to seismic loads acting on a structure. Conversely, under snow or wind loads, the panel zone may experience compressive and tensile stresses simultaneously from two directions. Considering the economic preference for thin steel plates, evaluating the elastic critical local buckling stresses in the panel zone under biaxial normal stress may provide essential information to structural engineers. In this study, an elastic buckling analysis based on the energy method is performed to clarify the impact of panel geometry and boundary conditions on the elastic local buckling stresses of skew panel zones. As confirmed from the results, the local buckling stresses calculated using the energy method were consistent with those determined using finite element analysis. The findings indicate that a skew angle of up to 30° marginally affects the elastic buckling stress under uniaxial stress. Consequently, engineer-friendly design formulas were developed based on these findings. Comparisons with previous research demonstrated that the buckling loads reported were generally higher than those determined by finite element analysis. The study also established the correlation of the buckling stresses under biaxial stresses, which implied that the skew angle posed minimal influence on buckling stress for skew plates under biaxial stress. Additionally, a method for evaluating this correlation was presented. Engineers can utilize the provided design equations to more efficiently and accurately calculate buckling loads, facilitating a safer and more economical design of structures with skew plates.

    Abstract

    The objective of this study was to analyze the elastic critical local buckling of cold‐formed lipped channel sections using the energy method. A mechanical model and unique displacement functions simulating the local buckling behavior were proposed to consider the plate element interaction. Using the proposed mechanical mode, an analytical formula for local buckling that directly reflects the parameters of the channel member was proposed. Based on the proposed formula, the relationship between the cross‐sectional geometry and local buckling behavior was investigated. In addition, a simplified design equation was proposed. The reliability and effectiveness of the proposed equations were presented by comparing with the results of eigenvalue analysis based on the finite element method.

    Abstract

    The effective cross‐sectional area method for the outstanding leg is utilized as an ineffective area to evaluate the strength in the present Japanese design standard. Given that this evaluation method is fundamentally premised on experimental outcomes derived from relatively thick plates, it must be extended to brace members composed of thin plates. In this study, we conduct bolt joint experiments and numerical analyses on thin‐plate angles and channel members, with the aim to elucidate the elements influencing the efficiency of the joint. We propose a unified bolt joint strength evaluation formula that also considers thin‐plate members.

     In a sandwich structure having a thin plate, it is of critical importance to understand the buckling behavior of the surface material. The purpose of this studyis to seek to clarify the elastic buckling strength of steel sandwich panels under out-of-plane bending and evaluate it by simple formula. For this purpose, byextending the previous theory for in-plane compression, the authors propose a theory for the elastic buckling strength of steel sandwich panels underout-of-plane bending. Furthermore, the authors analyze effect of material properties of core and skin, shape of steel sandwich panel on elastic bucklingstrength under out-of-plate bending, and propose simple formula for evaluating it.

    &nbsp;Square hollow section members such as square steel tube members and box section members are commonly used as columns in structural steel buildings. Their structural performance during earthquakes significantly affects the seismic capacities of the buildings. The square hollow section members used as columns are subjected to bending shear force during earthquakes. Local buckling determines their large deformation behavior, except for fracture. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the large deformation behavior of the members under bending shear force governed by local buckling for an accurate evaluation of the seismic capacities of the buildings. Although numerous studies have been conducted on the local buckling of the members under bending shear force, the local buckling determinant is not sufficiently understood. Various factors affect the large deformation behavior of the members. The effect of member shapes and loading conditions and the effect of material and geometric imperfections on the large deformation behavior under bending shear force have not been sufficiently investigated. Consequently, the ultimate strength and plastic deformation capacity of the members under bending shear force have not been systematically evaluated as a function of member shapes and loading conditions.<br>&nbsp;Given this background, this study aimed to investigate the large deformation behavior of the square hollow section members under bending shear force governed by local buckling and evaluate the ultimate strength and plastic deformation capacity as a function of member shapes and loading conditions.<br>&nbsp;First, for the evaluation of the ultimate strength and plastic deformation capacity of the members, the elastic local buckling strength under bending shear force was shown. A new normalized width-thickness ratio SH based on the elastic local buckling strength and full plastic strength was proposed.<br>&nbsp;Then, after understanding the elastic local buckling behavior purely determined by member shapes and loading conditions, the large deformation behavior of the members under monotonic bending shear force was examined using numerical analysis and structural testing. The effect of initial imperfections and the effect of loading conditions on the large deformation behavior were shown. The ultimate strength and plastic deformation capacity were evaluated using the normalized width-thickness ratio SH based on the elastic local buckling strength. The evaluation expressions derived from this study enable the reasonable prediction of the ultimate strength and plastic deformation capacity under bending shear force as a function of member shapes and loading conditions.<br>&nbsp;Finally, after examining the large deformation behavior under monotonic bending shear force, the large deformation behavior of the members under cyclic bending shear force was examined using structural testing. Cyclic loading decreases the plastic deformation capacity under bending shear force. However, most of the ultimate strength and plastic deformation capacity under cyclic bending shear force can be evaluated using the evaluation expressions derived from this study. The expressions were derived via the conservative analysis where initial deflections by buckling mode were used as the most unfavorable initial imperfections.

    &nbsp;Cold-formed steel members are widely applied in columns and other axial members in steel structures. One of the key issues in design of cold formed steel is local buckling strength under axial compression. As a means to avoid premature local buckling, we have paid on attention to the application of octagonal section members. The local buckling behavior of octagonal section members have been investigated by many researchers. However, these studies have focused mainly on regular octagonal sections and do not considered the restraining effect between adjacent plate elements. In this paper, we conducted numerical analysis (Finite Strip Analysis and Finite Element Analysis) and stab column tests, to investigate the elastic buckling strength and post buckling strength of octagonal section members where the adjacent plate elements have different width-thickness ratios.<br>&nbsp;First, we conducted Finite Strip Analysis to investigate the elastic buckling strength of octagonal section members. Through these numerical analysis, it was found that the octagonal section members generally showed higher strength than that of simply supported plate. These strength increases were depended on the difference of the width-thickness ratio between adjacent plate elements and the change of buckling mode.<br>&nbsp;Second, we examined the post buckling strength of octagonal section members through a stab-column compression test. We compared the post buckling strength of square section and that of octagonal section, and found that the post buckling strengths of octagonal section members was higher than those of square section members, when they have a same diameter. In addition, it was known that the post buckling strength of octagonal section members could be evaluated by the traditional effective-width method, where simply supported conditions were assumed.<br>&nbsp;Finally, we investigated the post buckling strength of each plate elements of octagonal section members whose adjacent plate elements have different widths by Finite Element Analysis. The post buckling strength of the plate elements with a large width was higher than of square section member. On the other hand, the post buckling strength of the plate elements with a small width was lower than that of square section member. These increase and decrease were dependent on the restraining effect between adjacent plate elements. Because of this trade-off effect between the adjacent plate elements, the effective width method, which regarded each plate elements as a simply supported plate, gave a good estimation about post buckling strength of the octagonal section members.

    &nbsp;Web-tapered tapered H-shaped beams, which have a continuous reduction in section, have been utilized in steel-frame structures for more efficient utilization of structural materials. On the other hand, section stiffness decreases along a beam's axis, and the member stress increases. For this reason, it is more important to investigate the buckling behavior and the progress of the plasticity of a tapered H-shaped beam than that of a uniform H-shaped beam.<br>&nbsp;In the past, the authors investigated elastic plate buckling strength and lateral torsional buckling strength using an energy method and numerical analysis. An estimation method and formula were proposed in those research studies.<br>&nbsp;This study examines the inelastic buckling strength and plastic deformation capacity of Web-tapered H-shaped beams with depth tapered through by a cyclic loading test and numerical analysis. Twelve tapered beams and five normal straight beams were tested. The cyclic behavior and collapse mode of these specimens were investigated. In addition, multiple simulations using numerical analyses were carried out. Then, the collapse mode and plastic deformation capacity of the tapered beam were evaluated by using indexes that were determined on the basis of the elastic buckling strength.<br>&nbsp;First, it is clear that the behavior and collapse mode of tapered beams are changed by the following characteristics: taper gradient, flange plate slenderness, web plate slenderness, and lateral bracing length. The skeleton curves of each specimen are taken from the load-displacement relationships obtained by a cyclic loading test. Using these skeleton curves, the effects of a tapered gradient on the performance of an H-section beam are examined. The value of the plastic deformation capacities of beams collapsed by web plate buckling or lateral torsional buckling are estimated from the eigenvalue of each tapered beam. This means that the plastic deformation capacity increases when the eigenvalue is higher. On the other hand, the values of the plastic deformation capacity of a beam collapsed by flange plate buckling are almost the same without regard to its own eigenvalue. Because the flange plate buckling strength decreases when the tapered gradient is steep, and plastic reason in flange is longer.<br>&nbsp;Second, the effect of a cyclic load on tapered beams is considered. It is evident that beams with low plate slenderness and large plastic deformation capacity are affected by cyclic loads. That value The plastic deformation capacity of these beams decreases by cyclic loading.<br>&nbsp;Third, the authors propose a new plate buckling slenderness index (WF&gamma;) and lateral buckling slenderness index (&gamma;b). These slenderness indexes are obtained from the elastic buckling strength. It is clear that the collapse mode of a tapered beam can be classified using these indexes. In the range of WF&gamma; / &gamma;b > 2.4, the collapse mode is plate local buckling, and in the range of WF&gamma; / &gamma;b < 2.4, the collapse mode is lateral torsional buckling.<br>&nbsp;Finally, the maximum strengths and plastic deformation capacities of tapered beams are estimated by using the plate buckling slenderness index and lateral buckling slenderness index when the collapse mode of tapered beams is classified by these indexes. The elastic buckling strength of the tapered beams do not decrease as a result of the coupled instability effect between the plate local buckling and lateral torsional buckling. However, the maximum strength and the plastic deformation capacity decrease as a result of these effects.

    Tapered H-shaped beam-columns have been used in steel frame structures from the perspective of reduction of the weight of steel frame and improvement of economy. On the other hand, section stiffness of tapered beam-columns is weaker and stress within tapered beam-columns is greater than uniform beam-columns. For this reason, it is important to grasp elastic buckling behavior of tapered beam-columns.<br> This study targets H-shaped beam-columns with web depth tapered under axial and bending shear force, and is intended to reveal elastic local and overall buckling behavior. First, stress distribution within tapered beam-columns is cleared, and elastic buckling strength is derived by theoretical analysis with energy method using the stress distribution. Based on the analysis result, evaluation method of elastic buckling strength of H-shaped tapered beam-columns is proposed.

    This study researches how stress concentration has an effect on cyclic behavior of H-shaped beam with web perforation made of high strength steel &amp;ldquo;H-SA700&amp;rdquo;. It is examined and compared with the same shaped beam made of &amp;ldquo;SN400&amp;rdquo; by cyclic loading tests. Cyclic elastic deformation of H-SA700 increases even under constant-amplitude cyclic loading. This property may amplify the local plasticity near a circular hole. So new yield strength, &lt;i&gt;Q&lt;sub&gt;c&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/i&gt; and &lt;i&gt;Q&lt;sub&gt;F&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/i&gt;, by means of elastic theory of stress concentration, are suggested. &lt;i&gt;Q&lt;sub&gt;c&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/i&gt; is a minimum strength when somewehre in a hole edge will be plastic. Similarly &lt;i&gt;Q&lt;sub&gt;F&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/i&gt; is a minimum strength in a minimum section. In addition large deformation behavior of H-SA700 is shown.

    本研究は,鋼構造に対する設計行為の明確化および合理化に繋げる鋼構造の設計体系の高度化を図るために,その設計手法が連続かつ統一的となることを目指し,鋼構造部材の使用条件範囲を区分,設定,限定しない統一的な安定性評価手法を構築することを目的としている.具体的には,(1)主要構造部の部材として使用されていない薄い板厚の範囲における部材挙動およびその構造性能の解明,(2)鋼構造部材の軽量化,大断面化に伴う断面形状および補剛等を考慮した周辺部材の簡略化,(3)現行規準,指針における仕様,使用範囲から逸脱している部材の詳細な部材性能評価であり,研究全体は5つのサブテーマから構成されている.
    以上の目的のため,2年目の令和3年度は,以下のサブテーマ「2)圧縮力および曲げを受ける組立部材の安定性評価」,「3)薄板H形断面部材の安定性評価の高度化と接合部への展開」を主に検討し,令和2年度の検討で,新規かつ詳細な検討が必要と判断したサブテーマ「1)圧縮力および引張力を受ける非対称断面部材の弾塑性性能評価」の一部についても継続検討した.
    サブテーマ2)では,様々な接合ピッチを有する薄板非対称断面組立引張材に対する新たな合理的設計式を提案した.圧縮および曲げを受ける組立材の挙動については,その基本的な特性に対する検討は終了しているが,サブテーマ1)の知見および接合要素のモデル化等の詳細な検討が必要と判断し,予定の研究期間を延長して行なうこととした.なお,サブテーマ1)では,薄板非対称断面部材の境界条件に応じた座屈モードの解明および終局耐力評価を行なった.サブテーマ3)では,柱梁接合部および近傍部位の薄板化の可能性とその安定条件を踏まえた設計法に向けた検討を行った.さらに,サブテーマ「4)冷間成形角形鋼管部材の連成座屈不安定挙動の解明」に向けた基礎資料の収集と基礎的検討を開始した.

    The purpose of this study is to evaluate the actual performance of thin plate steel structural members in the ultimate state and to establish a rational design method. In particular, the performance of steel structural members composed of thin plates depends on the buckling instability phenomenon. A new thin plate member design method was proposed to calculate the elastic buckling strength and the ultimate strength by grasping and clarifying its behavior.
    Furthermore, the relationship between the end shape, boundary conditions, and stiffening stiffener, which has a great influence on the instability of thin steel structural members, was shown. From the results, the rational design method considering the more rational development of thin steel structural members and the relation with surrounding members was shown.

    This study focuses primarily on corrugated steel plates, steel plate sandwich panels, and cold-formed channel section members to evaluate their stability and seismic performance.
    These evaluations confirmed the properties of the materials constituting the members, and specified the relationship of the material properties of the members with the structural properties. Performing theoretical analysis, numerical analysis, and loading test clarified the structural properties of the members according to boundary conditions, connection conditions, and loading conditions of the members. Moreover, a performance evaluation formula was derived that would contribute to rational design methods.
    A structural form by appropriately combining thin plate members was proposed and showed the future development and potential of the thin plate structure type through trial construction experiment.

    Coupled instability behavior and the plastic deformation capacity of H-shaped steel beams under the cyclic load are cleared in this study.
    Buckling strength of the beam is cleared by theoretical analysis. And the cyclic loading tests are carried out. From these results, plastic deformation capacities of H-shaped steel beams which are collapsed by coupled buckling are estimated.
    And effective buckling bracing methods and shape of members are examined. Effectiveness of floor slab was also examined, and those compression buckling design methods are proposed.

    鉄骨部材の塑性変形を確保するための規定の一つに幅厚比規定がある。本研究はこの幅厚比規定の中に盛り込まれているF値の適切な定義の仕方に対して考察を加えたものである。特に高張力鋼に対して適切なF値(以後,規定応力度)の定義法を確立することを目的とした。また鉄骨部材の塑性変形能力を決定づける鋼材の機械的性質の中で重要な要因は,降伏応力度にかぎるものではないく,特にひずみ硬化勾配,ひずみ硬化開始ひずみ等は部材の塑性変形能力に大きく影響を及ぼす要因であることに着目して研究を進めてきた。
    昨年度は590N/mm^2級高張力鋼を対象として簡単な数値解析及び載荷実験を行った。これらを通して通常塑性変形能力が期待できるとされている程度の幅厚比のフランジ板要素における局部座屈発生ひずみに対して考察を加え,材料の引張試験結果から得られる応力ひずみ関係を用いて規定応力度の定義法を決定した。ここで規定応力度は,申請者があらたに定義した材料定数であり,これにより実態ととしてに部材の塑性変形能力を簡便に評価されうる因子である。
    本年度は,昨年得られた規定応力度定義法を現在建築の分野で使用されている鋼材に対しても適応可能かどうかについて検討を加えた。まず400N/mm^2級から780N/mm^2級の現行使用されている鋼材の引張実験により,それらの材料特性の取りうる範囲を明らかにした。この材料特性の取りうる範囲を踏まえた上でで,載荷実験と数値解析により,現行使用されている鋼材の全種類にわたり本研究で提案する規定応力度を用いることで統一的に部材の塑性変形能力が評価できることを示した。さらに部材の塑性変形能力に影響を及ぼすであろう材料特性のうち,降伏応力度,降伏棚野長さ及びひずみ硬化勾配に注目し,パラメトリックな数値解析を通して,これらの影響を把握し塑性変形能力との関係を明らかにした。

    本研究は,梁の最大耐力決定要因として圧縮フランジの局部座屈と,引張フランジの延性破壊の両方を対象とし,梁の塑性変形能力がこれらの要因の相互効果により決定されるものとして捉えた。ここでは降伏比の高い高張力鋼を用いた梁を対象として,各板要素の幅厚比、材長を変数とし,実験を通してこれらの要因が梁の崩壊性状に与える基本的な影響を確認した。
    具体的には,梁の塑性変形能力を高める上で構成板要素の幅厚比を小さくすることは必要であるが,特定の幅厚比以下のものを使用する場合には,梁の最終崩壊形式が引張フランジの延性破壊となることがあり,小さい幅厚比の梁ほど塑性変形能力は小さくなることを明らかにした。また,ウエブ幅厚比の小さい梁は,フランジの局部座屈を抑制する効果によりフランジの局部座屈が成長せず,最大耐力が引張フランジの延性破壊で決まる可能性があり,延性破壊に関してもウエブ,フランジの相互作用を考慮する必要があることを示した。さらにウエブ,フランジの幅厚比が共に等しい同断面の梁においても材長が短くなると最大耐力が延性破壊が決定される可能性があり,梁の崩壊形式及び塑性変形能力評価にはモーメント勾配も考慮する必要があることを示した。
    同時に数値解析を通して,局部座屈と延性破壊の相互効果で決定される高張力鋼梁の塑性変形能力をフランジ幅厚比で整理し、最大耐力の決定要因が局部座屈から延性破壊に遷移するフランジ幅厚比の境界は,ウエブ幅厚比,材長により変化し,ウエブ幅厚比が小さいほどフランジ幅厚比の境界値は大きくなり,モーメント勾配がきついほど同様に大きくなることを明らかにした。また,梁の塑性変形能力を局部座屈と延性破壊の両面から評価し構成板要素の幅厚比で整理することができることを示した。

    本研究は,フランジには軟鋼を使用したまま,ウエブに高張力鋼を使用したハイブリッド柱部材を提案し,その塑性変形性能について検討したものである。柱部材としてH形断面を用いた場合,断面中心に位置するウエブが軸力負担能力を十分に有しているならば,高軸力下においてもフランジのみならず,ウエブも曲げ応力を負担することができ,柱部材の有する曲げ耐力と塑性変形能力は耐震設計上十分な数値を確保する事が可能となる。本研究では,高張力鋼が高い降伏点を有するという特長を利用し,ウエブのみに高張力鋼を使用することで高軸力を保持し,十分な塑性変形能力を有し得る柱部材を提案した。
    ウエブに80キロ級の高張力鋼を使用したハイブリッド柱部材の載荷実験を通して,特に高軸力Fにおける力学性状について検討を加えた。試験体は,比較のために行った軟鋼柱部材も含めて9体であり,軸力比,ウエブ板厚をパラメータとした。その結果,ハイブリッド柱部材では高軸力下においても塑性中立軸がウエブ断面内に存在していることで,ウエブ断面内の圧縮応力分担領域が減少し,その結果として部材の最大耐力,塑性変形能力が向上することを明らかにした。さらにウエブの板厚をフランジ板厚よりも厚くした場合には,同時に連成局部座屈を抑えることができ,さらに部材の塑性変形能力が向上することを示した。
    また柱部材の最大耐力,塑性変形能力についての実験式を示した。この実験式は軸力と幅厚比の二乗の積(γ)で整理され,最大耐力は指数曲線的,塑性変形能力は直線的に表される。γの増加にともないハイブリッド柱部材と軟鋼柱部材との開きが大きくなり,ハイブリッド柱部材の有効性が顕著になることを明らかにした。さらに,このハイブリッド柱部材の塑性変形能力を,短柱圧縮試験より得られる構成板要素の局部座屈耐力を用いた塑性変形能力評価法を使用して,軸力比及び幅厚比の関係で整理した。
