    析出強化型Al-Mg-Si合金押出材を用いた外力下の配列組織制御を検討した結果、特に負の圧縮応力で応力軸方向に平行な<001>β“の針状析出の数密度が増加した。相互作用エネルギ―の観点から、針状析出物の短手方向に正のミスフィットを有する<001>β“の析出に外力が作用したことで配列効果が生じたと説明される。このような配列析出組織に硬さ試験を行うと、応力軸と垂直となる面で硬さが減少する硬さの異方性が明らかとなった。またAl-Cu-Mg合金のGPBやS”相の針状析出物でも同様な配列効果と硬さの異方性が現れており、針状析出物の配列組織が力学挙動の異方性をもたらしたと考えられる。
    マイクロメカニクス理論に基づき、アルミニウムに代表的な<001>針状析出物、{111}板状析出物の内側と外側の内部応力場をEshelby介在物法により計算した結果、析出バリアントの幾何学配置によって、すべり面上の転位と正・負の相互作用力を生じるバリアント(Type-B)、ならびに相互作用力が平均してゼロとなるバリアント(Type-A)が存在することを明らかとし、また析出物が容易にはせん断されにくく母相のみが塑性変形する場合でも(不均一介在物問題)、バリアントの幾何学的配置によってType-AとType-Bでは内部応力場の傾向に明らかな違いがあることが明らかとなった。更に、内部応力場中の転位運動を離散化転位動力学法により解析した結果、せん断の外部応力下で転位が張り出す過程で、析出物の内部応力場の符号によって転位運動が大きく影響され、転位の幾何学形状や長さにバリアントの影響が現れること、また転位の移動量から換算した塑性ひずみと外力の関係にも差が生じること、等を明らかとした。

    Mn doped ZnS is promising for the stress induced light emitting material. The present work examined the feasibility of production of ZnS:Mn film by deposition methods, and the photoluminescence behaviors with related to the microstructure of deposited film. The mechanical tests under various stress conditions have been conducted for ZnS:Mn powder. The mixture of ZnS:Mn powder embedded in epoxy shows photo-luminescence (PL) and mechano-luminescence (ML), and the magnitude of ML is enhanced by the concentrated loading condition. Regarding to the ion beam sputtering deposition of ZnS film, neutralized ion beam is required because the polarization charge of ionic nature of target matetial. The clack and peeling of the film during and after deposition can be reduced by intermediate Cu buffer layer between ZnS and Si substrate. X-ray reflection implies the accommodation of interfacial stress caused by lattice mismatch between films and substrate. However, PL behavior is hardly observed in deposited films by IBS and also the resistive heat deposition method. This might be due to the contents of Mn inside the film is insufficient at the substitutional lattice points since subsequent heat treatment in Ar atmosphere provides PL.

    This work is a study on magnetic recording materials used in hard disk drives. The fabrication of current recording media needs ruthenium as underlayers in order to control the growth and properties of the magnetic layers. However, ruthenium is a noble metal that is being rapidly consumed. Therefore, development of ruthenium-free recording media is necessary. In this work aluminum nitride has been used to control the growth and properties of CoPt layers, and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, which is necessary for magnetic recording, has been successfully realized.

    1)本開発した高耐食性を示すNi-Cr-P-B系金属ガラス薄帯を使用してセパレータを作製し、燃料電池単セルに組み込んで発電試験を行った結果、ステンレスSUS316材セパレータよりも高い出力密度が得られることを見出した。
    2)Zr-Cu-Al三元系合金急冷材中の析出相は、金属ガラス形成組成域よりも低Al濃度側ではZr_2CuあるいはZrCuの金属間化合物が析出、高Al濃度側では未知の結晶相(Zr_5Al_4相あるいはZr_4Al_3相と類似の長周期構造を有する)が析出することを見出した。3)Cu-Zr-Al-Ag金属ガラスの室温〜液体窒素温度までの圧縮試験の結果、試験温度が低下するにつれてヤング率、最大圧縮応力、塑性伸びが大きくなること、およびシアバンドの相対的な量が増加することを見出した。4)バルク金属ガラスの微結晶複合化過程をレーザ照射によって明らかにすると共に特性評価を行い、結晶相の溶融再冷却では、結晶成長速度の遅さが金属ガラス形性能を大きく支配していること、摩擦摩耗特性の評価では、結晶金属と金属ガラスの摩耗特性が異なることを見出した。5)イオン注入による金属ガラス化、窒化、ポーラス化など改質層の形成過程を調査し、それら弾性率が0.5〜1.5倍にコントロールできることを明らかにした。熱処理を必要としない本プロセスが、金属ガラスの表面改質に非常に有効であることを見出した。6)Cu-Zr系複合ターゲットを用いてスパッタ過程での薄膜の結晶化挙動に及ぼす配合組成とスパッタ雰囲気の影響を調べ、Cu比率が35〜80%の比較的広範囲で非晶質構造が形成でき、スパッタガスとして10〜30%の水素を混合することで更に非晶質化が進行できることを明らかにした。
    上述したように、高機能特性持ったNi基金属ガラスの開発、Zr-Cu-Al三元系合金急冷材の析出相、および表面層をガラス化し、その物性を明らかにすることなどができ、金属ガラスの応用に際して必要である貴重な基礎的知見が得られた。

    Ion implantation is an effective surface modification technology since various kinds of elements can be implanted into any targeting materials. In particular, various surface nano-structuring can be accommodated by the light element ion implantation. Three kinds of nanostructuring methods are introduced to investigate the nano-structuring behavior via the ion implantation and to understand the nano-hetero structuring process when these nano-structured materials are in use. Ion-plated titanium nitride films are employed as a common substrate to be nano-structured. The chemical bonding state can be gradually modified with increasing the doses of carbon via ion implantation. This first nano-structuring control in chemical bonding leads to selective hardening for designated surface area. Furthermore, hardened surface is often favored for promotion of wear resistance even in the severe wearing condition. The second nano-structuring is characterized by in-situ formation of non-equilibrium compound and by cluster formation of implanted atoms. The imposed aluminum has loose bonding with the targeting material system. This results in the formation of non-equilibrium cubic solid solution (TI, Al) N. While, a part of imposed aluminum still remains as a metallic aluminum phase. With increasing the bulk temperature, these aluminum atoms make counter diffusion from the depth to the surface, resulting in the reaction with penetrating oxygen atoms from surface and the in-situ formation of dense *-alumina surface layer. This works as a protective layer to prevent titanium nitride from further oxidation even at the elevated temperature, where the original titanium nitride films can be easily oxidized. The third nano-structuring is characterized by high mobility and reactivity of implanted atoms in TiN. The implanted chlorine has no or little distinct bonding with the lattice atoms of TiN. They might well be trapped at the dislocation in TiN without significant change of lattice constants. Since they have sufficient mobility to diffuse in the columnar TiN to the surface, the surface tribo-chemical reaction in the wear track is modified to make in-situ formation of intermediate phase oxides or Magneli phase oxides. Owing to their shearing deformation, the contact surface between TiN and work materials is self-lubricated to preserve low friction and low wearing state. This surface nano-structuring with nano-hetero structural modification becomes a new material design to improve the wear toughness.

    Toward nontraditional functionality of advanced magnesium alloys and compounds, this project is concerning with research and development of hydrogen storage, thermoelectricity and bio-compatible tissues. At the same time, the solid-state processing and forming, the cold-coating and bio-compatible film formation are developed to produce these new magnesium alloys and compounds. Among them, our developed bulk mechanical alloying (BMA) is further promoted for fine control of non-equilibrium phase by amorphization and nano-structuring, for fine control of contents in multi-phase system and for solid-state processing from granules and platelets. At first, Mg-Ni system is employed as a target system for non-equilibration via BMA. Hydrogenation and de-hydrogenation characteristics are significantly improved by this Ni-enrichment via nonequilibration. On this fundamental study in the binary system, material search for ternary alloys becomes promising through BBC-structuring. Mg-Si system is next selected to demonstrate the effectiveness of the solid-state processing. In the conventional processings like self-heating synthesis and melting, the formation of Mg_2Si takes place above the melting point of magnesium. This leads to partial reaction to Mg_2Si and coursing of grain size for the synthesized Mg_2Si. In the present method, Mg_2Si is sold-state synthesized at room temperature and the grain size is refined to have the equivalent particle size to that of refined silicon before reaction. On this fundamental knowledge, the solid-state recycling is proposed to fabricate the reinforced composite magnesium alloy parts and performs with in-situ precipitated Mg_2Si in fine and uniform. In addition, various hydrogen storage alloys like Mg_2Co are invented by super-saturation through non-equilibration both in Mg-Co and Mg-Fe systems. The Cold-coating is proposed to make the hydrogen storage films in Mg-Ni/Co/Fe systems even on the polymer substrates. This success enables us to make research and development of new material film systems for fast-rate hydrogenation and de-hydrogenation and to profoundly investigate the functional films with metal-insulator transition through hydrogenation and de-hydrogenation. New dipping method is further invented to yield the hydroxiapatite coating (Hap) on the pure magnesium plate as a bio-compatible film for promotion of recovery of hard tissues.
